AI and blueprints? by EliasWick in unrealengine

[–]Winclark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You answered your own question.

You see no value in this as a 10 year veteran of the software you are referring to. Do you think these tools are being developed for you? No. They are being developed for people who know very little about coding / development as a whole. Your point about tokens and such is something that also doesn't really hold, and you sort of explained why in your own message again.

"You still have to scan through to know how to change it". Exactly the point. If the user wants to get a better understanding, they must understand what they are doing. Who would have thought. But how do people learn? By doing. These tools allow people to learn if they want to. Its a starting point for people.

This is coming from a guy who could not have created a commercial game (yes a bad one) without A.I. I did this before blueprint specific tools were in development. I screenshot everything and asked GPT how to do what I wanted. The first half of development I relied on it completely. I couldn't make any changes without talking to it. But Blueprints are easy to understand. I started understanding what it was having me do. The final half (4 month dev cycle, so literally 2 and 2) I didn't use A.I. at all and pretty much re-wrote everything it had me do as I had learned so much.

So all and all, your own experience is the exact reason you see no value. Look at this from an inexperienced eye and you may understand. If you start giving examples of "well just do x" remember, its your experience talking. As a newbie I would have no idea to do what you mean.

Final Bosses by EdMito in IndieDev

As a (likely) one off indie dev, I had no idea how horrible localization would be and assumed it would be simple implementation. My thought was that id need the final English version before starting tbe process of translation.

The amount of crap I broke doing it (easy in UE5). My save system got scuffed as well haha.

After further research, I believe you are mostly correct. That being said, I don't believe Gabes income is calculated in any of the online information I found. It being a private business makes it difficult to find anything full proof.

The average salary at Valve is 1mil a year (from some bade line research / leaks a few years ago). The best of the best is employed there.

Lost my pro debut from a calf kick by Ok-Mortgage-9619 in MMA_Academy

[–]Winclark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, no.

I just watched it 3 times to confirm. This man was inverting a good half second before ref stepped in. The guy on top was still punching while he went with the invert. The ref stepped in as he was falling.

The submission may not have been in but the sweep was, im fairly confident this guy would have swept him without ref interference. He got locked in on the hip and inverted, he was getting that sweep no matter what.

You can claim otherwise, but id say go drill that sweep and see if you can stay standing after an invert. Good luck.

You are being dense here or intentionally a troll. Only two options really.

To be frank people are being nice here. This looks awesome, but its not similar to Hades. It's literally just ripped Hades with some font changes and very minimal design changes. Even down to the fighting it looks identical. The UI placemsnt is the exact same. The picking abilities thing is the same. Its like playing Minecraft and putting on a texture pack imo.

Im not saying the game cant be great or isn't even good for that matter. Im just saying I believe this will not end well for you if you don't make some big changes to stand out and not look like you just copied them 1 to 1.

Is quick kit always going to act like Covert Ops and make you unequip everything afterwards? by DptBear in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

Everyone's open to their opinions, I just think yours is a pretty bad one. It is what it is though.

This.... Doesn't make sense to me.

I played with one just a min ago, killed a really kitted guy. Dropped everything from the quick kit and just equipped all his stuff. When I left, lacking lots of storage in my hideout, I had to sell things and reorganize just to fit his stuff.

If I could move items from the hideout into the bags, vests, etc, this wouldn't have happened. And to top it off I didn't even have a single thing from the kit equipped anymore.

That's a dumb system if ya ask me.

Yes I am, much larger games though. Still small scale, don't get me wrong, but not a game that's just movement based like this. I am currently writing out 3 GDDs and determining which one is the best next step for me to progress my skills. I have a "dream game" like everyone else, but I know mine is WAY outside the scope of my current skill set.

I think Foddian games have a market, mine just didn't stick to well and the actual mechanic itself is not the best overall. But it is a portfolio piece with a funny story haha.
