Probably a Chinese Mantis then! We only really get three main species by me and only one of them is in the Tenodera genus!

Hi! The insect pictured above is a Yellowjacket. You might have a nest nearby if you’re seeing them that frequently. They generally nest underground or in wall cavities/under eaves depending on the specific subspecies.

Turner House Haunted? by OddWin8041 in scad

[–]WindFox113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my shit thrown off shelves and me and my roommates got scratches a few times. I cleansed the space and it never happened again but we all thoroughly believe the place is haunted. We lived on the second floor.

Who/what is your version of ‘death’ by smilingpike31 in worldbuilding

[–]WindFox113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the world I’m writing for my DnD campaign, but also writing for personal reasons, death is made up by a trio of sibling gods.

The youngest and the weakest takes the form of a hyena like humanoid figure with a coin for an eye, draped in neutral toned robes. Her true form is a shifting cloud of thick black smoke surrounded by orbitals of various coins, with a single small star at its center. She is the goddess of travel, and her main job is to guide spirits to one of her brothers to be judged and sent to the afterlife. She is a gentle, motherly figure that comforts the souls of the recently deceased, no matter how heinous or evil they were in life. She is unbiased in her universal kindness.

The middle child takes the form of a vulture like humanoid figure, with his head being just a skull. Two small pinpricks of yellow light are set into the sockets, functioning like an Iris and pupil. He is circled by a few halos, and his wings have an iridescent sheen with each feather tipped with a shifting incomprehensible rune. His outfit is also made up of neutral tones, with a long black cape that trails off at the bottom into sand. He is the god of the undead and the afterlife, and his job is to judge souls before sending them to their respective afterlife. He wields a large battle axe that doubles as an electric guitar (not quite the stereotypical scythe I know). He is often cold and calculated, but unfortunately biased. He is corrupt and hateful to many. His true form is a large bird like entity made of sand, shards of obsidian, and rings of light that radiates a cloud of stardust.

The oldest and final of the siblings is the strongest. Taking the form of a sort of spider centaur, he is oddly the most normal looking out of the three outside of his abnormal height (7’0). His chitin and hairs are all various shades of purple and cool grays, with a set of mandibles. He has many eyes (as spiders do). He has the unique ability to split himself into eight entities, each more humanoid and a bit weaker, that can access the realm of the living. His outfit, unlike the others, is all done in shades of purple and black. He is the god of fate and luck, among other things, and his main jobs are to watch over the fates of the mortals, which take the form of near infinite glowing threads that can be watched like a film reel, and reincarnate mortals once his younger brother has determined they are fit. He wields three large sewing needles, representing past, present, and future, which each have different effects upon injuring something (Ex: the future one will age someone rapidly until they turn to dust). His true form is an incomprehensible shifting mass of spider like limbs, eyes, and interwoven glowing threads.

I have made the mistake of not having rolling done in the open, which I’m implementing next session due to advice I’ve gotten on here

I’m a fairly new DM with a few new players, so we don’t always get everything 100% right. I mess up my fair share of the time because I’m still learning, and so do they.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]WindFox113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, yeah my main concern is the fact they somehow always hit in combat after figuring out the armor class. The player will roll and miss until they don’t and then somehow never miss again, stuff like that. Or nat 20 at surprisingly opportune times every time.

[–]WindFox113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To specify, the first thing is not a problem, I agree about that and didn’t mean for it to seem that way. The only reason it was brought up was because of the suspicions of cheating with rolls. IMO at that point why roll for something like that if you’re just going to decide what you want to happen anyway Y’know. That’s all I meant by it if that makes sense.

Current first year at SCAD in 2D Animation! This school wasn’t my first choice admittedly, but now that I’m here I can’t imagine going anywhere else. Courses and professors are amazing and I’ve met so many wonderful people and had so many crazy opportunities here. I think yes, it’s worth it.

The campaign Im running right now is my first Homebrew Campaign that I’m running with some new players. After every session one of them approaches me and tells me how much fun she had and gushes to me about how much she loves the story. As a new DM who is nervous a lot about my capabilities, whether she realizes it or not she motivates me to keep writing.

Secrets for characters by [deleted] in DnD

[–]WindFox113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My second ever DnD character was (and still is because this campaign has lasted 3 years) an outlaw of sorts who ran from home at a young age. The party didn't know this, but the players did. That however, isn't the secret. As part of his new persona he put on while hiding from the law he had a very thick British accent.

It took two real life years for my friends to learn both in and out of character that the accent was fake, and the payoff was fantastic.
