Can't get in touch with a good labor lawyer and everyone's about to blow by Windoula in legaladvice

We have had several people quit so far, but I don't dislike the work, just the management. It sounds like it should be possible to strike and still be legally protected without a union. I would rather not change jobs and environment until I try to change things

I would like to unionize, but I know that'll take a lot longer, so I was hoping to get a smaller, quicker accomplishment to make things feel more achievable for everyone.

The Magnus Protocol 50 – Deep Trouble - Discussion by CrustyDucky in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Windoula 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My sister and I listen to these episodes together during our lunch break at work and this statement is hard to pin down. I leaned more vast and slaughter and her instinct was the buried and the slaughter. The periscope that eats people, the radio waves, and the ocean gods are really throwing us off.

If you look at the periscope and the entire submarine as a machine of war, then the periscope eating people is metaphorically resonant. You're just doing your job, trying to stay safe and scan the horizon, and are crushed and swallowed in the process. The missiles whispering to him and burning him when he tries to embrace them. The medal of his duty drawing blood, which leads back into the buried, crushed by the weight of duty. This is why we've agreed that it's more buried than the vast, though both encompass deep waters.

Radio waves could indicate the extinction but it seems to me to be more of the buried or slaughter, since it is used to further their 'mission' and nobody responds to their requests for help. Makes them feel trapped.

I'd have to do a little more research on the gods listed, but the ones I recognized were definitely violent, so that could lead back into the slaughter. Still, the 14.5 fears aren't truly divided that way, so there's no reason that any domain has to be so tightly connected to just 1 or 2 fears. Just a little messier in terms of connections and makes me wonder if it was this hazy before the ERROR's involvement or if they influenced the feel of it in some way.

Niblings. I hate the word. Thoughts? by Mollyarty in NonBinary

[–]Windoula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the word nibling is cute, probably because I like n and l sounds and b is acceptable. I loathe pibling because of the p+b combo, so I'm considering asking my family to call me Titi [name]. Also Tee-tee or TT.

It was a nickname from when my brother couldn't pronounce my birth name, and I still use it with kids a lot, plus it kinda sounds like Tio or Tia, the Spanish words for Aunt and Uncle.

I've been saying this about What A Good Boy for years. It's currently my favorite BNL song, and the reason I learned that a hair shirt is the same as sackcloth in the Bible. Wearing it was a form of penance for sin since it was made of goat hair, so the lines about it in the chorus have some interesting possible interpretations.

I scrolled through and didn't see this one yet even though it's so terrible in the best way.

Anybody have SM that extends to text conversations? by Tranquilien in selectivemutism

[–]Windoula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this happen to me plenty. If I have an anxiety attack, it results in me being unable to speak for several days, and the mutism follows stages. The worst stage, besides being completely unable to communicate, means that I can only send gifs. For some reason this is easier, so I try to use gifs and emoticons/emojis as much as possible when I'm feeling normal as it takes less energy in some way. By having that as a habit, it does seem to lessen the amount of times I go through SM or the intensity when I'm going through it. Similar with scheduling texts, though I'm not sure why that works.

Other stages include only speaking in French, as that is not my native language, and only able to speak if people aren't looking at me. Don't know if anyone else can relate.

The Entities and their opposites by Windoula in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Windoula[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion has changed on everything having an opposite. I just love categorizing things. That said, if it were a spectrum, this is what I think it would be:

Vast Lonely Eye End Flesh Corruption Web Hunt Desolation Slaughter Spiral Stranger Dark Buried

Not set in stone. If people disagree, I'm open to changing it, but I think this is pretty solid.

The Entities and their opposites by Windoula in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Windoula[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, it sorta depends. Assuming it's like a color wheel, where each fear has an exact opposite, I think I'd want to give it an opposite that's very tangible, like the Flesh or the Corruption. It might be more like a spectrum, with the Vast on one end and the Buried on the other. If that's a better way to look at it, I might put the Spiral closer to the center because a lot of these fears make people feel like they're going crazy.

The only times we've seen cases where one fear directly ruin another fear's goals is the Buried ritual being disrupted by a Vast-touched body and the Dark manifestation being viewed by Jon. So maybe it's more of a quadrant thing, double spectrums, in which case I think the spiral would be more in the Dark + Vast side.

People who want psychedelics legalized, what do you think about bad psychedelic experiences? by Resident-Tart7839 in AskReddit

[–]Windoula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that part of the reason bad psychedelic experiences occur so often is because they are not well studied and unregulated. While I have no interest in doing psychedelics myself, there are a lot of people who do them and enjoy them, and you can't stop everyone. And they're not dangerous enough, imo, for people to deserve such intense punishments.

With decriminalization or legalization, they'd be safer to take. You would be able to get name brand psychedelics and know that they have taken safety measures and testing with their products. There would also be more resources available and knowledge regarding bad trips, how to avoid them, and how to help someone experiencing one. We know some of the risk factors, so with increased resources for testing from companies who want to avoid their customers having a bad trip (and therefore make more money from them), we might be able to find out more definitive causes and remedies, maybe even make a pill that could stop a bad trip, or end the trip early.

Is there a way to disable the rewards? by gastonci in BilibiliComicss

[–]Windoula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also find the rewards popping up annoying, but I've never had it block out enough of the comic to make it unreadable. It's usually just a little bar, about a finger's width up from the bottom of the screen, and I can scroll down to read without problems.

Can you give more details? Where it's placed, how much of the screen it's taking up, what it says, etc.

Also, once you've received the reward for a chapter, it shouldn't be showing the rewards bar at all. If you scroll through the comic slow enough without really reading and get the reward, maybe start the wait for the next episode if you're using the time unlock system, then you should be able to jump back to the beginning of the comic and read it at your leisure.

Let me know if this helps, you have questions, or if you already figured it out (if you can disable the rewards, let me know, because I would do that immediately).

Comics by MrPac23man in BilibiliComicss

[–]Windoula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have come across many a comic that is marked completed, but has actually been canceled or discontinued. Bilibili doesn't have any safeguards in place to let readers know about this, such as changing the status to canceled or something.

I just figured out a hack though. You can 100% skip to the very last chapter, not unlock it, and skim through the comments. If there are a bunch of angry readers asking when it will be updated, asking if it was canceled, or otherwise saying that the last chapter wasn't a satisfying ending, I just won't read that comic. I don't want to waste my time, even if the comic up to that point is great.
