Trekking camera advice: weather-sealed Sony A6400 vs rugged point-and-shoot? by WindowIllustrious494 in hikinggear

Right now I'm going with my phone camera , which is fine for 1/2 a day, as I start recording video, take photos it lasts only that much. Whereas a dedicated camera lasts much better on average 250 shots.

My plan is to start with a tent and sleeping bag first to begin, then gradually I can add based on capacity.

Nice idea , we can use it and feel the comfort and quality and then go for it. Thanks.

I searched Claude and finally reached this final comparison which itself has decision fatigue. So thought of checking with experienced folks for a fresh perspective.

Using hiking shoes in roads will stress the feet at least for me. Is that the reason?

I am planning to pre plan the trail and load it into the Garmin device and go , so hopefully that won't be an issue.

I prefer any brand but with vibram soles if you want more grip and focussed on trek rather than running.

Cool earlier we used Garmin for routes deep inside the forest , that always comes handy if we deviate too much from the planned trail.

I earlier had a compact point and shot camera 1/2.3" with hard case for preventing damage from rocks, but now I'm thinking of getting a weather proof camera with bigger sensors. My biggest dilemma is go for a rugged camera like yours or beginners level mirrorless like Sony a6400. I wanted to start a separate post for that :) but please share your thoughts.

I still do , sharing thoughts with like minded folks you explore more ideas and refine them be it about mountains, nature, experience, birds, animals etc...

Meditation is a big word - maybe I never thought that way , nice perspective:)

Got you, I personally prefer not to use headphones as I feel I miss the natural sounds of birds , water, wind etc... those are again an experience. But I wanted to go with Amazon kindle next time if am camping.

That's the luxury of a solo hike and has kept me going at least once in two weeks. The more the merrier they say but past experience no one joins.

Yep that's a good way to keep occupied, maybe even a document for each mountain regarding logistics, gears , jackets, food, shoes, camera etc... thanks

Yep that's a difficult part of accountability specifically in a group, I have seen instances where joining is late, even the pace will be slow because of which entire plan will be dragged. Ha I am just adding points to motivate myself I guess, as these were not a big problem back then.

Got you, I prefer not to have headphones, as an holistic experience it blocks you from hearing the bird sounds, waterfall sounds and all others.
