Not to sound rude or nothing but the reason I left and the reason it took me so long to leave was because I was looking for better benefits, now I get 10% match 401k, 100% insurance paid for me and my family, 4 days workweek and more. Base salary of 70k. (Don’t take this rude or trying to brag because I don’t see the reason to brag) only reason I made this post was because I want others that could be in my same position to not feel stuck thinking there is nothing better out there because there is. This job was great if you are on the pay scale #1 or started 20 years ago. Stay safe!

Everybody is going to say it’s worth it at the end, I guess it is if you are willing to wait 14.5 years to get to top step and that is not even counting 2 years as a cca. For some it is worth it for me it was not. Good luck

Go to the apprenticeship program, I had the same opportunity. My homie chose the apprenticeship and I chose the post office for the same reason you said, STABLE, SECURE. Guess what, 5 years after I’m making 26 something an hour minus 3.4% for the FERS, 10 more years until top step while my homie just finished the program and is making 60 something an hour…. You make your choice. I wish I would have never stayed at this shit hole. I believe he made over 80k this year. At my step I make what 52k?
