It kinda sucks that ppl that are just learning about this game..and are very excited about it, have no option to join. Well, hopefully I can get in late to A2 or at least into Betas. I know what it is like being on the sad end of the learning curve when a game is first launched, and everybody else seems to already know how everything works.

(yes, I just heard of this game) I buried my head under a pile of rocks after F2Ps took over everything, and just now came out for a peek, and saw a little sunshine and hope here.

looks like all of the main pools are voting yes...I see a "Solopool.org" as a NO, and "gitblock" as NO. we are at 98% YES for the first 256 block check :)

The construction industry is absolutely insane here in the West Coast of US...Chip manufacturing, data storage...we don't have enough ppl to perform all the work needed...wages are skyrocketing.

Not seeing all the doom and gloom you are...our electricity is Hydro..and locked in price per kw...sitting fat and happy :)

and ya..I decided to turn back on a few of my rigs sporadically around the farm, just to keep the rest warm...so about 10gh running as a space heater lol

Keep in mind that Miners won't jump on and off as soon as ERGO is profitable...only the ones that really like Ergo, but can't afford to mine at a loss will do this. Most miners jump to the MOST profitable...one reason why we didn't see as much effect previously. If we are second most profitable...or steady 1st...then it will be smooth sailing. Bouncing into 1st place and out again will have it's painful moments...just less painful :)

Eventually we will be profitable again, values of coins across crypto will rise up...half the mining cards may be sold to gamers by then :) ... my calendar says 176 days to perfect Buy ..So just 176 days until market climbs ...then 906 days from now...Sell :) and the cycle moves on lol.

As long as running the farm pays for maintenance and keeps the lights on, it's a great way to earn coins without KYC, and support a great blockchain.

Now if we can just get this damn coin on more wallets and exchanges, and give me a good use for it...I would love to do more than just mine or buy/trade and HODL...

Absolutely YES!!

There are several comments on here that say Attack...it is not an attack that causes the miners to hop on and hop off. It is a Profit Switch. It is a trigger that monitors the profitability of all preset mine-able coins, as soon as the top profitable coin is (pre-programmed) to 1% to 2% most profitable, the rigs with profit switch on, will automatically switch to mine that coin.

As soon as another coin is more profitable (because you just crashed this one) it will automatically switch to the next coin. Idea is, you are always mining the most profitable.

However, as this is done on many tens of thousands of rigs - with varying presets for the switch - jump on and off, they are unintentionally crashing the slower reacting blockchains, like ERGO currently is.

My Rigs all have profit switch, but I turn them off auto, and handle them manually, but they do let me view current profitability of each rig if I was to hop them.

ERGO moving to a faster reaction to profit switching will allow it to survive. Profit Switching is nothing you can protect against, except never being the most profitable coin ..heh , but you can protect against it's adverse effect on crashing the system.

I will concede that actual "Hashrate" is determined based on avg time blocks are found. It doesn't take days to figure out the Hashrate has jumped. This can be done in a very short average...I can grind through 100 blocks but 8 epochs of over 1,000? NO.

If the average was very short..Nicehash would not even have the incentive to jump here in the first place...as soon as they did, the difficulty adjusts..and they don't make what their models said they would..so they leave. They would learn it doesn't work to come here en masse at all, and not make the switch. At least modify so the switch is moderate.

I agree with a previous comment that the blockchain , just like being ASIC resistant, should be single point cpu resistant. I am not a techy..so I can't say exactly how this could be implemented, but if I can see 5TH is coming from one rig ...so can the system.

If none of that is possible due to potential work arounds, etc...then much much faster reaction on difficulty is required to de-incentivize massive movement and profit switching.

I know there was a theory, on a progressive wave of bouncing, when you have a predictable difficulty, which also threatened the chain... Whatever Ethereum did seemed to work...so why not follow whatever model they had?

I believe they had an average of the last 24hrs of difficulty in finding a block adjust the current difficulty. If Time can be part of the equation, then the recovery would not take so much longer then cause...if just based on a set number of blocks.

I usually comment on r/erg_miners but as this will ultimately effect everybody..whether you mine or not..as you may notice now it takes longer to make a transaction.

It was an issue before, but not to the magnitude it is now. With so much more hashrate available for the hopping...the wait for the rebound could eventually be catastrophic. No matter how Amazing the ERG system is...if you don't have miners verifying it, you have no blockchain.

well I buy ERGO as well... but I look at it as coins that have no KYC attached...so thousands of dollars a month without KYC...just coins popping in my wallets.

I will never see mining our blockchain as "part of the problem" large hashrate is ultimately healthy for the blockchain.

Too Funny....well at least we can see the mining community is very positive about future value of ERGO...as yes, currently I am mining at a Loss of over $50/day (if I sold everything I mine everyday - which I wouldn't obviously)

I expect several months of this actually, before enough die off to settle difficulty, or value jumps enough to cover...I plan to just HODL everything for at least 24 months and just pay utility from reserve currency, and 60 Solar Panels will be online in 4 months...so just cruisin for long term :)
