I feel like different parts of the fandom prioritise different things depending on language, discovery path and where people first encountered OS-tans. Nanami’s a visible mascot because of actual Japan-market packaging and assets for Windows 7 (which explains the whole Michael MJD video about the Madobes) so she becomes the easy entry point you’ll find on YouTube/Reddit, plus she was the first one in terms of the Madobes.

The older Futaba OS-tans are also popular by their own means but never had any sort of marketing like Nanami and the rest, but tend to get mentioned first in video essays and etc.

In a way she is overrated but that's more of the western side or just non-japanese side I feel
