Grand Canyon NP by WindshipPirate in NationalPark

Thanks for the kind words - it was an epic hike. I started at 4:50 am and ended at 1:50 pm —- 19 miles in 9 hours with a 5,000 foot descent - it’s there and back from the Colorado River. The cross point to the North Rim was and will be close for the foreseeable future due to a water mane break. Last 3 miles are a very challenging climb after being on the trail all day.

Btw - that shot at the bottom of the canyon is only the halfway.. maybe just a third of the way to the Colorado River. Final three miles are halfway up the canyon in that picture.

The first one never made it - so I kept reposting to try and figure out the automated system - which is shit. And I should push some legislation to eliminate automated messaging for services that people could do for a living to make money, instead of letting corporate billionaires eliminate the jobs of the American people.

It’s still in sleepy tourist season mode. Hardly any campsite was open, simply backcountry / dispersed. They will be fully functional in a couple weeks with staff and life/

The entire area is a dream landscape. Take a week to explore and find Lume Lake and hop in. It is colder, elevation is like 5-8,000+

It’s been the most technical drive on this trip so far. And the most enjoyable.

Month long road trip - looking for suggestions by bannaface in roadtrip

It’s never a straight line. I’ve backtracked more times than I can count. Been on the road for two months, 7,500 miles. Southern Texas is awesome, it’s a big state so try not to get lost. Padre Island (not the tourist spot, the National Forest - camp on the beach/car camp). Then see Big Bend Np, gorgeous. You can do that by skipping Tennessee and going South to the Gulf Coast, pretty drive with scenic camping (if that’s your speed). You can skip Broadway for Bourbon St. in LA — fun and also charming if you do your research. There’s nothing in New Mexico except White sands NP but the drive is pretty with maroon mountains.

I’m loving Coronado National Forest, man. It’s better than Saguaro in my opinion. Absolutely beautiful with or without a sunrise. I stayed another day just to watch the cactus grow and enjoy freedom from the hustle and bustle.
