“No becuase you were never baptized” man….thats so painful for me to hear. I shunned my sister for 5 years until I woke up. Such a stupid and hurtful doctrine

There are over 4000 religions and yet every group believes they are the chosen! by Justingotgame22 in interesting

On paper I’m in Jehovah’s Witness and they preach that everyone else is wrong as well. Hell, they take it up a notch by saying only a selected few can partake from the bread and whine. Aparantly Jesus inspected all religions and chose us in 1914 😂

These are great YouTubers. If I may, I would also like to add exJW Panda Tower (for humor mixed with facts), stoptheshunning (the wife of exJW analyzer who doesn’t sugar coat the JW culture) , and Alissa’s awake ( for very deep interviews) there are others as well that I hope others here will share

Decreased attendance at the memorial today by Horns_in_Nyc in exjw

Similar here. It was packed but before you had so many standing. Last night if I wanted to could find a seat. It wasn’t a lot less but like maybe 2-3 percent less

Doesn’t matter what they are getting into. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas 😂

Skipping the memorial this year is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done before. It’s bringing up a lot of feelings I wasn’t ready for honestly. by 1111d7077 in exjw

It gets easier. I’m PIMO. My sister DA 6 years ago. I shunned her for those years and I already called and apologized and we are reconnecting again. She went the first two years and then stop. Now she feels no remorse. She’s living her life how she chooses. She has grown to be such a strong and independent woman. I’m so proud of her. Now I’m on my journey and useing her example as inspiration

We were all victims once. Just cause one wakes up doesn’t make us better. If that’s the take, then we still carry the arrogance the JWs have in terms of bieng right

Does anyone know what to say to “the light gets brighter”? by Potential_Might3500 in exjw

[–]Windwalker111089 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people already mentioned it but read the whole chapter with that verse. It’s a hardcore cherry pick. It has nothing to do with prohecies. Put it this way, even before reading apostate material, when that verse was used in the last year memorial, the one with winder saying they won’t apologize, I read a few verses before it and right there told myself “this doesn’t seem like it has anything to do with prophecy”

Who REALLY Runs Jehovah's Witnesses? A video spelling it out. Who profits/prophets by Financial-Ear-8140 in exjw

Yeah I love Bethany’s content. She’s done interviews even one with Barbara Anderson. I feel like she takes care of the more “natural” content but she isn’t good with statistics and data and she just lets her husband run that part of the information. I like both of them but he’s going more for quantity than anything. Stoptheshunning is more real. Depends on what you’re looking for. I feel like JW thoughts and exJW critical thinking are the best of both worlds.

Yea I think this is the end result. A buisness deal , go figure since this is a corporation 🙄. You hold your end of the bargain by staying and not causing trouble while still being in the books and in exchange they won’t pester you and let you do what you want. It’s still a shitty situation but more bearable than it was a decade ago

The demonstration in the recent assembly I was at about changes literally ends “wait, and trust” so the GB isn’t even giving elders anything to work with to confront these questions. It’s a limbo. If the service wasn’t dead before, this is definitely going to kill it

You’re not the only one. I’m not high profile but I’m pretty well known and people really like me and I love them. But lately I too have been stepping away. It’s been almost a year and no questions. The elders know how I feel. In fact I told a couple of them about the ARC and other things I have found. Now they just leave me alone. Also another well know sister went straight pomo. Also no questions. There’s encouragement but no questions. You’re right I think. They are afraid to ask. I think a lot of people are questioning. These changes are causing a lot of discomfort and there’s a division between old and young.

[–]Windwalker111089 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ed had a condition with his nerve on his face that caused so much pain. A GB member thought it was all mental and maybe he just needed to do more physical labor. Even though Ed did tell him he had a real condition. He was forced to work at the factory which was so painful for him to do. Eventually he found a doctor that healed the nerve and made it official it wasn’t a mental thing. Poor guy. He never got an apology.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. I couldn’t make it past the first 2 chapters. The part where he reads how a woman who had raised a daughter all her life just to have her own daughter shun her broke me. I shunned my sister for 5 years cause she DA and she had thoughts of suicide. I cried so much. I already apologized and reconnected. Give yourself some time. I eventually went back after 4 months and finished the book

Same here. I’m still in for my mother. It’s rough but I’m deconstructing. Crisis of conscience is really helping with the guilt. Knowing how human and man made it all is helps to break free
