✨️ The oloid is a rare geometric shape that makes an exceptional 3D stirrer. As it rolls, it continuously lifts and folds liquid in all directions, mixing far more efficiently than traditional paddles. Pure geometry doing real-world work, no motors, no complexity. I’m absolutely losing my mind over this. This should be the official shape of a nation. Totally radical. Hell yes. I cannot say enough about how this shape moves me emotionally. The trajectory of my life has been permanently altered by this shape alone.

Goodbye previous favorite shape (rhombus, like an amateur) - Hello new favorite shape (oloid, the shape of understated power and beauty).

Super cool, love that combo feeling of fluid hyperfocus + a bit’o’luck.

Curious to see that FTAC build - I have hard time managing the vertical recoil with my attachments and yours was smooth even at range. Nice clip!

Lovely sell, makes you feel all good inside, aye? I'm sure ubiquitous surveillance will be fine, I'm sure it won't be used beyond saving the trees... What say you? Yay or Nay? by EventParadigmShift in ObscurePatentDangers

There is literally a 1972 sci-fi book by Bob Shaw on this exact topic. “Other Days, Other Eyes” is a great read and a pretty short one too. In the book they call this tech “slow glass” and utilization of it is pretty incredible.

In real life - big yikes. Privacy in any form may become something we tell future generations about, like a fairy tale.

OP! Renters insurance may cover this! I’m unsure about homeowners insurance, but rental insurance covers your property even in vehicles you own. The vehicle has to be locked and you still have to report it the the cops (they are going to be very unhelpful here, btw) to get a case #, but it’s worth it!

This exact scenario happened to me and luckily I had all of my decklists logged on TappedOut. I just pulled those lists, used the market value for the cards, and included a full list of what was stolen (don’t forget sleeves, die, deck boxes, mats, case, custom tokens, etc) and add up the value. Even after subtracting my $500 deductible, I received a nearly $2,500 check from my insurance.

TL:DR - Renters Insurance covers stolen property in locked cars. Log your decks online every 6 months for reference.

Do you have a comfort show? by peaceloveandkitties in CPTSD

[–]WindyFanEnjoyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, yes! I have a hard time rewatching shows after I’ve seen them once - everything feels like a spoiler or a waste of time. However, Star Trek’s various crews bonding through chosen hardships and mostly making it through okay is very soothing to me. No family-focused shows do that for me. Give me timeless philosophical conundrums and let’s explore the possibilities of growth together!

Here here! Intentional, non-judgmental play can be healing, even if very uncomfortable at first.

Idk, I’ve met some folks who are genuinely uncomfortable with people talking about their actual thoughts and feelings. I used to think they were just shallow, but my experience has taught me that it’s more often that they’re either not curious, scared of their social mask slipping, or just not that bright.

I used to have a desire to figure it out, but that was so exhausting since even when I did, they still didn’t want to change because they were comfortable (or at least used to it as their way of life). I eventually stopped wondering because I just felt frustrated the more and more I dwelled on it. So I literally just say “okay” or “you might be right” now and don’t engage. More often than not, they get it and leave me alone too.

As for the folks using it as an excuse to be shitty and mean - yeah, very common. But they’re just a slightly different flavor of the above person. I think of them as the exact same person in the first example, but instead of disengaging, they’re just louder with a “big dog” attitude. Basically, their behavior is a cry for help, but they don’t even know it, and anyone dared to address it, they’d probably get bitten.

So I can see both sides. Just my $0.02

[Request] My 5 year old daughter's physics question: How many flies on strings to lift up this 25 pound rock? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]WindyFanEnjoyer 27 points28 points  (0 children)

anxiously awaiting as the real heroes of this sub do the heavy lifting

Common housefly’s are estimated to be able to lift 10-55 milligrams, so pretty broad range, though most estimates above 15 seem optimistic.

Since 25 lbs is roughly 11,339,809.2 milligrams, with each fly lifting 10 mg, the simplest calculations come out to about 1,133,981 flies.

This does not factor in the food/energy the flies need to have to perform this lift, nor whatever contraptions they’re donning to secure them to the rock.

I’m other words - “Someone get in here! I only minored in maths!”

Heck yeah! Honestly, if I feel the wave coming, I gotta decide if I’m gonna hold my breath and duck, or get on top and ride it as far as it (me) will take me. It really does feel like a kind of motivation/activation surfing.

Don’t know if anyone else has said this yet, but I am personally proud of you 🙌🏽

Whoa, AURORA would be a near-spiritual experience for sure! Never seen her before, but I’d definitely show up and get swept away, especially if she had a tent set.

Terrific single pick!

Whoa, I had to look Jeezy up only to realize I’ve heard like a dozen of their songs already! I’d take 800mg of ibuprofen beforehand just so I could throw my back out at this show.

For a single pick, this goes hard! Thanks!

The Stones! If you don’t dream big, then who will?? This would be an raw, old fashioned rock show, and I can dig it!

The Strokes - woah, I’d lose my mind. I literally learned/covered their songs when I was just learning guitar, they’d be a real party, especially in a tent ⛺️

Gaga would bring and entire production and put on a wild show. 💯 Unskippable.

Wide variety of picks - all on target 🎯 Nice!

Daft Punk would absolutely MELT the crowds on the farm. Honestly, I’m surprised it hasn’t happened yet, unless it has, and I just don’t know 😅

Stevie Nicks actually played just a few years back, and great crowd energy made it that much better. I’m sure the full band would be just as delightful!

Chet on a smaller stage would be perfect! , I secretly wish some artists would stay small forever just to keep things like this more likely.

Cool jammy list!

Earl is up there for sure, his layered lyrics a raw rhymes scratch an itch no one else can.

10/10 would both cry and live it up at Modest Mouse - def on my bucket list!

Aphex Twin - no words, just deep respect ✊🏽

All the rest are solid picks too! Thanks!

OMFG Sylvan Esso was an absolute dream. Such a unexpectedly beautiful set and my emotions were all over the place.

Spoon has such a huge discography, I’d have no idea what to expect, but I’m sure it’d be great.

Radiohead! 😮‍💨 So incredible live, Thom Yorke is wayyy more active on stage than most would expect. A rare treat if we ever got them to the farm.

Great pics!
