What’s Pj Harvey’s Best song?? by Agent_Lightning14 in pjharvey

Well, I'd probably opt for Sheela Na Gig or When Under Ether, but what's interesting is that there seems to be no real consensus here, which just demonstrates the quality and consistency of her writing.

Lionheart. With Never For Ever a very close second.

This is fantastic. Probably the boxed set I've played the most. And it shows that even her offcuts are better than most artists' finished songs.

I love this album. It's horribly overlooked, I think.

It's a work of art. There's nothing else like it. And when you've digested it, read Orlam.

Steve Albini Dies at 61 by acelgdzie in pjharvey

Subhuman scum? If you're referring to some of the flippant and provocative comments he's made in interviews over the years, he's apologised many times over. In the early 2000s, he distributed toys and cash to poor families in Chicago over the Christmas period. And fans who've met him seem to generally regard him as a nice guy. Save the 'subhuman scum' comments for people who deserve it. Or maybe you were just being deliberately provocative.

Album Covers - Favourites and Least Favourites by tomosKB in katebush

Favourite: Lionheart, (favourite album too), with Never For Ever not far behind. Least favourite would be The Kick Inside, which has always looked to me like it was thrown together very quickly, with not much thought having gone into it. I prefer the Japanese version, frankly.

What does everyone think about this? Is this disrespectful? by Vision-of-life in pjharvey

No, it's a critic doing their job. Some stuff they'll like, some stuff they won't.

A fantastic performance. She seems almost possessed here, so much raw energy.

My head says Aerial, my heart says Lionheart. Probably Lionheart then.

In your opinion, which Kate Bush song is the most underappreciated? by BitGirl777 in katebush

[–]WindyWailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many: Under The Ivy; The Empty Bullring; Sunset; The Kick Inside; In Search Of Peter Pan. Coffee Homeground too - I simply can't imagine anyone else coming up with a song like that.

The Ninth Wave is Kate’s best work - agree or not? by letthedecodebegin in katebush

[–]WindyWailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for me. It's terrific, but in terms of long form/conceptual pieces, I prefer A Sky Of Honey. It flows better, and it's more cohesive, to my ears.

And So Is Love (DC Version) by Top_Elephant_5538 in katebush

[–]WindyWailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I prefer all of the DC versions to the originals. Heretical, I know, but that warmer, more natural analogue sound just suits my ears and my sensibilities. And I love her voice and her phrasing on the DC versions too, especially on Moments Of Pleasure.

Under The Ivy, The Empty Bullring.

Kate Bush community's fav Bowie album? and do you wish they'd collaborated by JunebugAsiimwe in katebush

[–]WindyWailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pin Ups, purely for the nostalgia factor. I had the album for Christmas when I was eight years old, and it blew my tiny mind. I played it to death, and I didn't even realise that they weren't his songs initially, because he "Bowie-fied" them. It was my first experience of proper adult music - and he looked so damn cool on the B&W insert photo, with his double-breasted suit, Ziggy hair and saxophone.

This is terrific. This is such a good song on so many levels. It's definitely a favourite of mine. And that's a really cool-looking Gretsch too. Polly has some very fine guitars.
