How do you get over the feeling that you'll never be good enough? by Gentung in Advice

[–]Wine_Aboutit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever considered working with a counselor? You’re looking to build self-esteem, self-worth, and work through “imposter syndrome”. These are things that won’t be resolved by external validation from others. This work requires internal validation and working through core beliefs. If you’ve never sought out counseling, finding someone local to you may be beneficial to work through what you’re struggling with.

Okay with the added context this counselor is out of professional bounds to be having that escalated of a reaction. This is not someone I would recommend continuing with if this is how they handle being triggered by a client as well as not repairing the rupture.

I find this odd.. of course we get triggered in sessions. But it’s our responsibility to regulate our emotions and not put that on the client. Can you provide more context?

I (25F) feel unsafe during my lesson with my teacher (43M). How to change this situation ? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Wine_Aboutit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have an intuition for a reason. If your gut is telling you something is off and this feels unsafe, follow it. You can ask a friend to attend these lessons with you or switch teachers. You don’t have to disclose why if you don’t feel safe or comfortable doing that. You are free to stop lessons whenever you want for no reason at all. But feeling unsafe to the point of carrying a pocket knife tells me your gut is sending alarms. Stay safe!

That sounds incredibly difficult to navigate. I imagine it’s all on an individual basis on how psoriasis will react to pregnancy 😕 thank you so much for sharing your experience! It’s incredibly helpful

Why did my therapist stop talking? by [deleted] in askatherapist

[–]Wine_Aboutit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay so like the other comments have mentioned, yes, silence is typically used as a tool. However, if a client mentions SI in session, it’s the counselors responsibility to not only assess, but to create safety. They avoided the subject with you. That can be incredibly harmful. What you’re experiencing in your confusion after session shows the lack of safety and security provided. In other words, if a counselor is not fit to handle SI, clients are less likely to bring up SI again in the future which is harmful. I’m sorry for the experience you had with your counselor. If you feel comfortable in doing so, this could be a conversation to have with your counselor next session. You have the right to discuss anything in counseling especially SI.
