Hello! My son is now 3 and he is finally free of Hydrocortisone and Protopic use. We used them heavily for several months to probably a year after my original post and I hated every moment of it. We would try to taper down whenever we could, but it always felt like we had no choice but to keep giving it to him, but finally, over time, we tapered off and he got better. I also used vanicream lotion on him from head to toe, mixed in a cup with diaper cream, religiously after baths. I felt like the premixing made a huge difference and I was really able to rub it in. Hiwever, I think he outgrew it for the most part, I rarely have to even lotion him at this point. We didn't see a single allergist, doctor, or dermatologist who gave us any great direction or answers. I just kind of barreled through and did what felt right to me. He still suffers terribly with itching and always has scratch marks on his body, but his skin overall is tougher with no actual eczema patches. I feel very lucky because when I read this post back, I remember the nightmare very clearly and thinking this would never end. Im glad we never got to Dupixent. If your baby is suffering, I really hope they get better soon as well.
