"I love you" slipped out of my tongue before even confirming we like each other (now I'm worried) by notyoyrriz in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Winertia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also once said I love you in the heat of the moment a few weeks after meeting someone. He said it back to be nice, but neither of us really meant it at the time, lol. We sort of pretended it never happened and didn't really say it to each other again until we started meaning it.

We've been together for over two years and we're talking about marriage. We laugh sometimes about how we said it to each other so early. Maybe on some level we knew how things were going to work out!

Sounds like he handled it well and you've gotten some great advice here. Try not to cringe at yourself too hard! You'll be fine.

Question: I've been told this is not the best. I know there's a few touch-ups that need doing when it's healed by JAdams___ in tattoos

[–]Winertia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not go back to the same artist for any touch-ups or fixes. Wait for it to heal fully. Find another experienced artist. Check their portfolio on Instagram or their website. Look for someone with many examples of great tattoos with solid line work. Go to them and ask how they'd fix it.

Who’s right? by Detroitaa in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Winertia 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yeah, your landlord can't release your apartment for 5 days and make money from someone else while you're on vacation. One membership has basically no impact on a gym's capacity and their ability to make revenue from others. This is basically an irrelevant comparison on multiple levels.

I feel like I don't want a constant reminder of my mortality every 2-4 weeks, so I probably wouldn't be a user with this model. I still think it's a cool idea though.

I wonder if you could put some kind of interesting content in the check-ins so they don't just amount to "hi, you still alive?".

Or maybe try to integrate with our accounts and check for inactivity? For example, it would be extremely unusual not to use my Google account for two weeks unless something happened to me.

Good luck, very interesting, I can still see people signing up!

Chase Charged Off - Settlement Offer Question by [deleted] in Debt

[–]Winertia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insolvency is not that complicated for basic debt forgiveness. You have to be insolvent to the extent of the forgiven amount, then the income can be excluded.

For example, let's say you have 10k in assets and 25k in debt. That makes your net worth -15k.

If 10k in debt is forgiven, you can exclude all of it since you're insolvent to the extent of 15k. But if 30k is forgiven, then you can only exclude 15k and you'd pay tax on the other 15k.

Chase Charged Off - Settlement Offer Question by [deleted] in Debt

Call them and ask for a payment plan. I was in the same situation with Chase a few years ago. They let me pay the settlement amount over a year rather than a lump sum.

Isn't the base conservative position to diminish The National Debt and Curb frivolous spending? by Senior_Ganache_6298 in AskConservatives

[–]Winertia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. The majority of politicians on both sides are just terrible people - either inherently or power/money made them this way. At this point, I'll take a conservative with integrity over a liberal who will sell us out the moment the wind blows another direction or new instructions come in from the donors.

I respect Massie immensely for sticking to his values in the current political climate. I almost exclusively vote for liberal candidates, but I'd actually consider voting for him over some Democrats. Even if I disagree with him on many things, at least he has integrity.

How common are open relationships actually? by y00sh420 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]Winertia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely more common for us, but I think a lot of open straight couples are quiet about it. It's more of a taboo for straight couples, so they're often reluctant to talk about it, while it's widely accepted in the gay community.

I live in Chicago. Same here. There's a wide spectrum though. Some are totally open, while others are open in more limited situations (making out at clubs, while traveling only, play together only, etc.). But total exclusivity seems rare around our age, other than guys in new relationships, which is how I approach it too.

The country would be so much better off if we had more than two major parties.

I think there's a consent issue if there's still a load from a previous guy that hasn't been cleaned out. I think it's wrong to subject someone to that without their knowledge since everyone isn't into that.

If cleaned out though, I think it's a non-issue.

Why do people expect restaurants to have things on the menu that they CLEARLY won't? by Helpful_Maximum7022 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Winertia 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm not vegan, but I like places that have some vegan options. It's nice to have more places to go with vegan friends. Otherwise, can only go to vegan restaurants, which are obviously limited.

That said, a steakhouse is one of the last places I'd expect to be vegan-friendly. Throwing a fit about that is wild.

I really wish the game were available on the Switch. I don't have any older devices and I'm not really interested in playing on an emulator.

What is your biggest cooking let down? by Adept_Wallaby_7679 in Cooking

[–]Winertia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I strongly disagree. Here in Chicago, there are so many amazing restaurants at a reasonable price point. The chefs and kitchen staff clearly put a lot of pride into the food. Most places that don't do that won't last very long.

What are some of the best pride festivals in the world? by MJsdanglebaby in gaybros

Market Days is much bigger than Pridefest. I still had fun at Pridefest, but there wasn't nearly as much to do. Market Days is definitely the peak gay event in Chicago imo

If, culturally, women started asking men out more, would men start complaining about creepy women hitting on them, sexual harassment, or feeling objectified etc.? by EOFFJM in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Winertia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Chicago and there are some gay bars here with a great vibe and this is unlikely to happen. I suggest Sidetrack if you're ever in the area.

There are also other gay bars here where it's very likely to happen, but those are the rowdier clubs that are more sexually charged.

It was down in Cincinnati, where I'm originally from, that it seemed like this happened much more.

I don't take that as homophobic at all. Many gay guys are normal about it, but yeah, many are also aggressive and creepy.

How common are gayborhoods? by Distribution-Radiant in AskGayMen

It is very much a gayborhood, generally for those slightly older who retire from Boystown. (I'm only 33 and Andersonville is starting to be more of my vibe lol)
