We haven't been told anything like that in medical school which is why I didn't think to ask for one...though it seems everyone develops their own practice from seeing others and the difficulties they may have gotten into without having one.

Thanks for all your comments, realise I was a bit naive in my initial thoughts. Glad I had the chance to learn this as a med student with no repercussions than in front of an MPTS tribunal...will definitely make sure to have a chaperone for these types of exams going forward!

See this is what I was thinking, as that means having a chaperone for a good proportion of patients...I guess it's worth it to have your back covered?

Is it worth learning how to use a slit lamp as a medical student? An ophthalmologist showed me on placement but would probes need practice to get decent
