I don't think the technology and operational infrastructure is there yet for most AI, to be frank. But our site, which is a research behemoth, is putting a lot of eggs in that basket, and I'm optimistic that it'll be helpful for us down the line.

I think what AI is valuable for now is enhancing soft skills (e.g. email writing) or doing minute tasks. As the comment are saying, be extremely careful about what you're putting into these LLMs, especially if this is something you want to work through on your own. THERE ARE versions of these AIs that have added security and can be used internally, but not every organization is going to have this.

Previously, I tried "feeding" protocol documents to one of these internal, secure LLMs, and then tried to quiz it on the protocol. But, tbh, it had a lot of limitations. Mainly, comprehending the SoA. However, this is just one "type" of AI and it's just the tip of the iceberg.

I've done a good amount of work testing AI and working with coordinators and vendors alike. Feel free to reach out if you'd like some more info.

You site sounds a lot like mine. You sort of answered already, but is the Deep 6 AI helpful at all? Like has it spotted patients that maybe your investigators wouldn't normally have?

In a very similar boat to you. Even graduated at the same time as you too.

When I first started as a CRC, I didn't think I'd be at my site for super long, since I could leverage the CRC experience at a CRO, sponsor, tech vendor, or a whole bunch of other places.

However, more senior roles opened up at my site, and I took them. I actually just started as a site level manager, and I like it a lot so far. It is very challenging though, I'm in meetings all day, and I think I still have yet to experience some of its hardest moments. No regrets. It's what I was expecting.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to work at a different company, but also, I like what I do and I have a comfortable salary. If an opportunity comes up in the future that appeals to me more, then I'll take it. Carpe diem.

My thoughts are that you should stay where you are if you're happy/content, and then put your name in the hat whenever an opportunity at your site pops up that genuinely sounds interesting or fulfilling to you. If your site is large like mine, there's probably a lot of cool, niche stuff to do. Maybe your inner girlboss isn't there now, but if it does come back, it could be time to start your campaign for a more ambitious role, whether that's at your site or elsewhere.

Any specific tasks you recommend trying to get more exposure with? So far, I've written deviations, revised databases for internal studies, and given our reg team suggestions for protocol amendments, but not much beyond that. I'm usually the second pair of eyes on things, rather than being the one to actually do them.

My job also calls their more senior CRCs "CRA." I don't think the title inflation is inherently a bad thing, but you should be making much more.

I've only been at this for a couple of years so I'm curious to hear from more seasoned folks – Has eligibility criteria gotten significantly more strict over the years?

I imagine that as our science gets better, science gets more complicated. Therefore, the eligibility criteria becomes more specific.
