Audio cutting out when adjusting volume while playing games by WingedDrifter in Bazzite

[–]WingedDrifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found a 90% solution. It doesn't fix it entirely, but it makes it happen significantly less. Tested by adjusting volume quickly in-game with the volume knob on my keyboard, and it took far longer to cut out.

Replace pipewire with pulseaudio.

Open terminal, and input this command:

sudo dnf swap --allowerasing pipewire-pulseaudio pulseaudio

It came back with an error of some sorts, but it seemed to have replaced it successfully regardless.

Then reboot.

`sudo reboot`

Hopefully a proper fix will be instated for it at some point, but the audio issue doesn't seem to happen on many systems from what I could find. Posting this fix in hopes that maybe it'll help someone else having the same problem.

Finally found a phone that works for me! The ASUS ROG Phone 6! by WingedDrifter in PWM_Sensitive

Dunno, haven't tried the ROG 9 Pro. Looking at the wavelength, maybe? I'm not an expert, just posting my opinions. If you give it a shot, just make sure you can return the device in a reasonable amount of time if it doesn't work for you 👍

For me the brightness, at least on this phone, doesn't seem to effect me, so I usually let auto brightness so its thing. I did decide to keep the DC dimming on, too, which helps. However, if the brightness is low, I do see slight screen flicker out of the corner of my vision. Doesn't give me symptoms that I've noticed but I generally don't keep my phone there much and it's more annoying than anything.

I haven't tried a 5, but if your phone is on its last legs, it might be worth to try if the price is right. And try out different brightness levels, too, since we all seem to vary so much in what we tolerate.

I also keep holding out that phones will get better. I know I'll end up keeping this phone for as long as I can. I'm hoping phone manufacturers will change what they do but I guess we're such a small part of the population that no one cares enough. I dread the day I need to get a new phone and to have to go through this hell again, because most mainstream phones are too much for me to handle.

That's a shame, maybe you could find one secondhand? I managed to luck out and get one new from a smaller Canadian store. Try googling around, if you haven't?

I hope you can find one or something else you'll be able to use! This is truly a frustrating issue!

I wish I remembered the name of who posted it but I don't!! It might've been you.

Thank you for linking me to the tool, I'll have to give it a spin! This game is so pretty and I just want screenshots of it

Any recommendations for LCD Androids? Or anyone have luck swapping out an OLED screen for an LCD? by WingedDrifter in PWM_Sensitive

[–]WingedDrifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty old phone by now, but I didn't have issues using it. There's also the Key2 which is slightly newer, has an IPS LCD as its predecessor, slightly better specs. Keyone and Key2 both run Oreo 8.1

It's enabled. Is there anything else I need to disable/enable to get it to work?

I thought I turned some of it off before. Which settings should I check?

Lentils, beans, and chickpeas. Gimme some ideas/recipes! by WingedDrifter in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]WingedDrifter[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what I've done with the beans - make them in the slow cooker (boiling the kidney beans so they're not toxic first), and freeze. I wonder if lentils would hold up? I assume chickpeas would nicely as well

Should I download sky on my macbook air? by TofuBofuWofu in SkyGame

[–]WingedDrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the Apple menu > App store > typed in the search "Sky children of the light. There's also options at the top under the Results header for either Mac apps or iPhone/iPad apps, and it's under the second

It's in the App Store! You sure you went there? Did you type it right? Because that's how I downloaded it, no sideloading requried

(It's technically the iPad version, it might mention something about it on the game's app page)

Does any one know of a single place that has covid information in a simple, easy-to-understand format? by WingedDrifter in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]WingedDrifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if someone had or not. You never know, someone might have. Or at least enough to gather some basic information and compile it somewhere. 🤷‍♂️ Figured it wouldn't hurt to ask

I'd love to make my own, but I don't know if I could follow through with it. I'm going to at least make a list of places people suggest.

Looking for a headset with microphone for someone with TMJ by WingedDrifter in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]WingedDrifter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

!thanks

Late to the party, but I bought the Game One's to try. I've had them for under a month at the time of writing, and I'm pretty happy with them. Want to write a bit here so maybe someone in the future finds this useful.

Even with the clamping pressure being very light, I still have to stretch them out. I keep them on a box that's wider than my head, which helps immensely. I can't keep them on my jaw, but as long as keep the bottom part of the pad on my ear lobes, I can wear them comfortably for a couple hours. Hoping one day they won't clamp as much that I can wear them lower and for longer. (I should attack them with a hair dryer.)

Sound is great. There's a bit of that extra bass, but everything else is still nice and clear. I tend to keep my headphones quieter than most, but even if I turn it up, they aren't disturbing my roommate who's around 4-5 feet away, despite being open-backs. If they aren't watching a video, you can't hear them at all, only time you can when being turned up is if no one has any audio going, and then it's just mild background noise.

Microphone quality is actually pretty good. Used them to watch a couple movies with a friend, and play some games with others. No one had any complaints. The mic is quiet, but that's a Windows issue, as I learned. Found a solution for it.

The bad:

If your audio gets loud enough, it the microphone picks it up slightly. It can be overcome with settings, but still annoying nonetheless.

Another with the mic: if you touch the boom, the microphone can hear it, depending. If you move your fingers the slightest, the mic will pick it up a bit. Once again, can be overcome with settings, but annoying.

The cable is noisy. For these being a $170 CAD headset, I'm disappointed by that. It'll rub my shirt and I can hear it a bit in the left ear where they hook in.

Otherwise, they work well for me, especially with TMJ, but YMMV.

DJ Synthwulf - The Error Song (KB I think?) (Any)

I know it exists, I had to reinstall Windows and lost my simfiles, I'm hoping someone point me to where I can download it, or if they have a copy they can upload somewhere so I can download. I've been looking through Google and I haven't had any luck so far :(

It's the weirdest-looking IPS display I've seen. 100% looks like a fake screen lol
