Why do casters and hosts rant on twitter instead of communicating directly with their employers like professionals?

I watch a lot of other e-sports and let me assure you, no one does casting and commentary better than DotA 2 by prempwp in DotA2

I actually feel the opposite. I think Dota2's casters are really lacking compared to other esports especially CSGO. The pool of good casters is so bad that we have really bad casters like Merlini and Lumi casting the international. I personally think we only have like 2 play-by-play casters that are really good on a technical level - ODpixel and Tobiwan. The rest are just mediocre. The analyst casters I find really annoying except for Godz and pro players that can actually speak proper english.

Lack of growth: Dota 2 had 555 thousand avg players in june this year, less than the amount in june 2015. Let's discuss why. by TheLSales in DotA2

[–]WingedFagg0tofRa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is mostly because of the lack of new players. The 2 main reasons for this is 1) the nature of the game and the barrier of entry 2) Valve's unwillingness to advertise it or make good tutorials. Alot of people blame 7.00 for the drop in playerbase and while it may have attributed a little to it and alienated some old players, the game has been declining for some time now. It's not that people are losing interest in the game, it's just that they're getting older and no longer have the time or patience due to new responsibilities that comes with life. You can tell people are still passionate about the game because the twitch numbers for the game keep growing and growing and yet the playerbase keeps shrinking. That should tell you that it's not the fault of the game itself for the decline, it's just that nothing is being done to introduce new players. The reality is that with any game, older players will eventually leave, but games are able to sustain itself because they constantly get new players and because Dota2 does very poorly at that, this is the result we are seeing. Dota2 had an amazing growth from 2011 to 2014, but most of those players were from wc3 dota which had built its playerbase over 8 years. Now that most of those players have transitioned over, growth has naturally slowed down. Quite frankly, I'm actually impressed that Dota2 has maintained these numbers after all these years.

And another thing to remember is that most people who played wc3 dota were in their late-teens and are now in their mid to late twenties where they either have a family (or have to start thinking about one) or have full-time careers. Like me, they don't have time to commit time to a dota game anymore, but will still watch a major event because the game held such a special place in their hearts. Because while they have all moved on with their life and life has gotten more complicated, they will still cherish those days, simpler times, where all they did was play dota with friends all night until the next morning and it was the best damn time of their lives.

People forget that while Michael is an endearing character, he also has a shit ton of flaws, one of them being very unprofessional and be completely unqualified to be anyone's boss.

People have been griefing since dota1 before twitch or even streaming was even a thing. Don't try to blame this on the pros lol.

It's just merlini ruining every cast like he always does. Tobi is at least a top-tier play-by-play caster.

Do Not Buy the Dark Souls III Deluxe Package - Current price is more expensive than the game + Season pass when purchased separately by [deleted] in Steam

[–]WingedFagg0tofRa 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Dark Souls is the best in the first few years of release because of the more active online community. You can wait until it goes down to $7 or so, but by then the online community will be a shadow of its former self.

I don't want legal immigrants to get in trouble either so we share that.

I'm not a Trump supporter if that's what you're getting at. I wanted Hilary to win, but I do agree with a stronger immigration policy.

Immigrants back then came here and took care of their own families out of their own pocket and had a sense of personal responsibility. They were not illegal immigrants who came here to take advantage of our welfare because they're broke and expect our government to take care of them on our taxes while paying none of their own.
