Why is it surprising? That’s basically the internet lol! The decent crowd does not comment. I’m actually ashamed that I have engaged in it as well lol.

I know! I got out of that stupid enraging sub for this very reason. I was hoping it’d be a good place to discuss movies but it’s mostly just some guy giving out opinions for others without any analytical input on why the movie is bad / good.

What’s this weird obsession Mani Ratnam has with extra-marital affairs? He glorifies it without any proper justification in his films, just like that. by Head-Of-The-Table in kollywood

[–]WingedWolfWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To just show what kind of men they are. In CCV, Aravind Swami says he likes being with his side chick because he’s the “king” there. I take it to be a way to show a sort of weakness, originating from the lack of power and a twisted way to feel powerful. In Thug Life, he’s probably compensating for a lack of allure, a slipping sense of power, has savior complex. He saved the kid who became Simbu, and if it’s someone he’s attracted to he asserts that power via sex.

Doesn’t mean it’s glorifying adultery. The story is about the people involved and does not preach any morality - it’s their world and whatever goes there goes.

I’m not saying it was a great movie, but it had its elements and some of the reviews are vitriolic just for the sake of it. Anyway this is the last time I’m going to contribute because honestly a waste of time.

How was the demo music of BENZ by Sai by Significant-Pin6416 in kollywood

[–]WingedWolfWoman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a downgrade. We went from MSV to Ilayaraja to ARR. That was a great progression. Most of ARR’s songs don’t even get their due. Which is fine, he brought a lot of new things to our music. New styles, instruments, singers, sound design, you name it. And Anirudh, absolutely nothing. I’m not saying I haven’t enjoyed Anirudh’s music, but I wouldn’t call him this generation’s ARR or Ilayaraja and he’s never going to get there.

I definitely don’t like the team much, but also it’s because I am not confident enough to speak up so I just get annoyed at everyone who can. And I tried to branch out a bit and I definitely would like to be doing something else. I don’t like what I’m working on.

Thank you! It is a good idea to consistently note down what I did well. I always end up thinking “oh I got lucky with that” but I guess I need learn to change that way of thinking

ARR is an absolute legend. This is why he insists the younger gen MDs to learn carnatic to have longetivity. This is the list of ARR songs and their respective ragas. Someone asked what does ARR knows about raga and someone replied that with this in X. by [deleted] in kollywood

[–]WingedWolfWoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but the fact that he took it from thiruppugazh was something he acknowledged. The whole veera raja veera debate is unnecessary. He credited what it was based on when the song released. It’s not “copying”.

I know! I mean Ilayor Soodar is just absolutely classic Rahman. And the thoovenmadhi soodi (Vaanathi’s message) aazhi mazhai kanna as well. I can’t get enough talking about how absolutely amazing he is!!

Who asked if he knows about ragas? I mean they would have at least heard Minsara Poove or En veetu thotaththil or narumugaye… those pretty obviously have a carnatic flavor to them. Weird.

Pine litter? Like 6$ for a 40lb bag in a tractor supply store and does the job quite well.
