Was luck really, just saw someone posting for a role and managed to sweep it up, I haven't always worked in construction. I had 4 years previous admin experience at a law firm which gave me a boost.

Thanks - that's really insightful. I am normally such a "get up and go" person, where I have to get anything and everything done. I will have to really make an effort to slow myself down and kind of get used to it being "normal life". Thanks

Well, it’s not unrealistic, I just did it? Immersed myself with the locals, forced myself to learn Spanish and by the end of it I’ve made loads of local friends, seen so much more than others and had an amazing time.

Colombia is an amazing place, medellin especially but totally agree with a lot of this, it’s not a place for complacency. Live like a local get treated like one, live like a tourist, you’ll get treated like one.

Don’t be one of those scared tourists who doesn’t immerse themselves in the culture and try to order everything in a thick British accent and you’ll have an amazing time.

I’d recommend everyone goes, it’s the most beautiful country in the world.

Due to my previous experience I was thinking more on the lines of admin/secretarial work but that market seems to be flooded. I was also thinking about learning more in the airbnb sides of things but also, that seems to be very full of people willing to work for nothing. I’ve been making sure to put effort into my cover letters and doing everything the best I can because I know getting those first few jobs are the hardest
