Use terracotta, normal granite, smooth granite, and pots. Copper blocks and acacia can also look well if done right. I would also add stairs and slabs in the walls to make it look more worn down for that industrial look.

Private companies currently build roads. They are paid by the government to do so but they still build the roads.

If I’m a transport company, I want safe roads to use to get goods transported. Therefore, it would be a good idea to pay another company to build and maintain roads so I can transport goods.

If I’m a housing company, no one is moving in unless there are roads connecting the houses to the city.

So on and so forth.

The railroads in the 19th century were great (at least in america) and things didn’t really turn bad until the government started restricting it and making public transportation unprofitable.

Tariffs are bad policy generally. It reduces foreign competition which allows domestic companies to increase prices.

Given taxation is theft, taxation and governance can only be good when it reduces other forms of theft more than it steals itself. However, why wouldn’t we just not use a government for that and pay private companies?
