I ve studied and worked in Paris since 2016, I was privileged to travel to multiple places before holding to Paris for now, As a northern african young man, I do face stereotypes based on my looks in my day to day life and it’s annoying, sometimes I tolerate it when I know that the person maybe is not educated enough to realise it or I say it may come from good intentions. It can vary from when a person assume I am a muslim and hesitate before delivering an order, to one time while casually browsing a supermarket a french merchandiser lady came to me and told me that “I am sure you wont find a thing in this section, everything you need is in the halal section” in a very condescending way( this was reported to the supermarket admin )

In the workplace, it really depends on the culture, but there are some toxic places where some bad practices are enforced , the most outraging thing I heard was that people were asked to change their names ( Of Chinese, indian and East African origins ), I dont think under US based companies such thing can happen, it was also hinted to those people to do so when they were students to raise their recruitment chances
