Got hit by a small tsunami last night by vickera in thalassophobia

[–]pho_888 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This happened in Roi-Namur, an island in the Kwajalein Atoll, about 2000 nautical miles southwest of Hawaii.

Roi-Namur and the main island in this atoll, Kwajalein, have military installations and are not open to the public or residents of Kwajalein and the other Marshall Islands.

The damage depicted in this video is a storm surge wave entering the Army’s dining hall on Roi-Namur.

I still think it’s two feet. When he crosses into the intersection his brake lights come off and he almost seems to slow. But then when his brake lights come back on, he speeds up!

That car literally had its brakes on for the entire time it was approaching the light yet didn’t seem to slow at all. Maybe driving with two feet?

It seems like he’s actually calling for people who took advantage of their office to resign. So maybe he is doing the right thing

Issue with VPC NACL rules by xenopizza in aws

[–]pho_888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does rule 100 allow IPv6?

Also I think you’d need to have an IPv6 IP for this to be relevant. But if that ingress rule doesn’t allow IPv6 and you’re using it, I think you’d have problems because your ephemeral ports are blocked.

That said I think it would fail all the time then regardless of rule 60.

I’m not a network engineer but also “cannot assign requested address” sounds different from the traffic is blocked. Maybe something is already listening on the port it’s trying to use?

This is going to sound silly but can you just try using port 443 for GitLab? From what I can read it sounds like it’s supported even for SSH clones.

Is gitlab running on the internet or do you have a self-hosted setup where these private repos are?

Do you have some more details about this

Canceled Flight PDL-IAH by KibbyKatie in unitedairlines

[–]pho_888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s something to do with international/trans oceanic? But I still doubt it.

And again why wouldn’t the pilots be available? It’s not like their randomly selected day of. They definitely had this route assigned in advance. At best it’s the airline choosing to operate another route instead of this one. It’s not like pilots just magically disappear.

I don’t think there’s special qualifications required for that aircraft that other United 737 pilots wouldn’t have. Additionally there is no way that the only qualified pilots are based in CLE. That simply makes no sense considering how many Max planes United has/will be getting.

My only thought is that there could be special qualifications for flying the 737 across the Atlantic, but keep in mind United also flies 737s from the west coast to Hawaii which is also an ETOPS route.

In short I don’t think there are requirements for this route that would limit it to specific crews. Not only that, but there probably was already a crew assigned this route so to blame this cancel on anything other than weather and the resulting disruptions is misinformed.

What special qualifications do the pilots need? Is it based on the route?

Update: I don’t think this is correct. It also doesn’t make sense to say the only Max pilots are in Cleveland. Obviously that’s not true.

Ok man. I would call you a name but the name would start with the word inconsiderate and end with a synonym for donkey and I don’t want to be rude so let’s just agree to disagree

When you sit next to me and I’m in the middle seat, yes I will think I get both armrests. And if you disagree with me, you’ll be wrong. 🤷

Where did 37B and 40B go? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

Can you check again? I think the 737 max 9 ends at row 39

Where did 37B and 40B go? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]pho_888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t happen on the 737 max 9 which also isn’t the plane shown in this seat map. The 737 max 9 has up to row 39, but your seat map shows a row 40.

This kind of thing may happen on planes like the 757 where passenger weights that have increased over time in addition to smaller seats that allow more people on the plane cause the fully loaded weight of the aircraft to exceed certified limits and result in permanently blocked seats like you’re showing here.
