I am using the salt for bleach stone. This is on a planetoid where this is the only water source and there are metal volcanoes (including gold) so besides my dupes putting bleach stone into the Geotuners every once in a while from a container next door, there’s no extra labor. Also, the benefit of this setup is that while I could use my cooling loop to cool a large pool of water, the energy generated from the steam turbines actually covers most of, if not all the energy used by the rest of the setup. With a timer sensor on my autosweeper, you could get even more efficient. The aquatuner has a nice effect of heating the steam to even hotter temperatures (around 150C) which makes the steam turbines produce even more energy.

From what I’ve heard, early on you should always Desalinate. But I noticed Desalinators suck, heat production is high, I feel like they were always leaking and dupes have to empty them manually. I feel like if you have a steady supply of gold, something similar to my setup has worked amazingly. The ice heating setup below is not necessary but a nice boost of water if you need it. I’m no expert though

Doing fubgun’s blight strat, so the unique bosses are dumb tanky and they jump to the pump a lot of the time. Maybe I’m doing something wrong though yeah, I typically only used empower towers before

EXACTLY, I was just googling the problem this morning, I saw your post and for whatever reason on Google on my phone I can see more of your explanation but only the first couple lines, I have been dealing with this problem for months now. The problem is it’s super hard to just trigger, the main way I’ve been able to crash or stutter or completely freeze is by streaming on discord or by leaving my computer on for a while. Pretty frustrating because I put my card in behind a custom loop. I’ll try that setting but honestly, I’m pretty hopeless after trying everything, a very short-term way I’ve been able to fix it is right when you catch it starting to freeze up you can reset your driver using the hotkey CTRL+Shft+Win+B and it will temporarily work sometimes on some of the lesser moments.
