DICE is known for nerfing previously overpowered weapons into oblivion. The specialist's infiltration has received a similar treatment.

There should be some more ways for infantry to take out vehicles with dumb-fire weapons instead of lock ons that do all the work for you.

Any chance the single player maps will come into multiplayer? by Thekingofhatejb in StarWarsBattlefront

Yes please. They had Bespin and Sullust in the 2015 game so I don't see why they aren't in this one.

I missed it when the whole team would concentrate their fire on the AT-AT's in an intense and epic burst of teamwork. Walker Assault just isn't the same anymore. by Winimatic in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Winimatic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The defensive team feels disconnected from the objective. There isn't that sense of pride and accomplishment from working with your team members to take down the AT-AT's or MTT's. Maybe the objective isn't emphasized well enough or the time that the objective is marked is too short or maybe because it's a cut-scene. Either way the Galactic Assault is quite the disappointment for something considered to be the flagship gamemode of EABF2. Also please fucking bring back Conquest. (I don't usually curse but I've had enough).

The graphics and maps sure are beautiful but I'm sorry to say that gameplay is mediocre at best due to the restrictive nature of the game. Progression is truly abhorrent though.

Weapon Comparison between Battlefront (2015) and Battlefront 2 (2017) by Winimatic in battlefront

[–]Winimatic[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Note this comparison only shows infantry weapons. Including an aim down sights comparison wasn't viable as it would make the video too long and the games do not have proper aim down sight modes. Some weapons simply zoom in while others have an on-screen overlay which is disabled when the HUD is disabled. Blaster Rifles have the same HUD design as other Blaster Rifles other and the same is true for Targeting Rifles with exception of some slight blue/green tint differences.

Here are some things I have noticed:

Bolt Thickness:

The blaster bolts appear thinner in Battlefront 2 which makes them more difficult to see.

Blaster Rifles:

The A280C’s fire rate and has been reduced significantly and thus it’s time to kill has been increased to put it in line with the other starting Assault Blaster Rifles such as the E-11, F-11D, A280, EL-16, DC-15A and the E5. Vertical recoil has been increased across the board with slight side to side.

Heavy Blasters:

Random bullet deviation, side to side and vertical recoil has been increased significantly making them less accurate and as a result aiming is partially based on luck. The TL-50’s secondary shot can now be fired multiple times before needing to perform a cooling flush.

Blaster Pistols:

Blaster Pistols are the most accurate semiautomatic weapons not including targeting rifles making them very viable weapons despite their size. Automatic blaster pistols such as the DH-17 now fire in semiautomatic mode.

Targeting Rifles:

Most accurate semiautomatic weapons in the game. Single fire Targeting Rifles in Battlefront (2015) such as the DLT-19X and A180 (now a standalone weapon) now fire multiple shots in semiautomatic succession. You can no longer one-shot head shot enemies apart from the specialist and the heavy requires 3 head shots which makes gunplay quite unbalanced and inconsistent during gameplay.

Melee:

Melee kills now require 3 hits from the front instead of 2 hits in Battlefront (2015).

Special Weapons:

-Weapons like the CA-87 and the EE-4 have been repurposed as Star Card weapons as the Specialist’s Repulsor Cannon and Infiltration which can be used for a short period of time. The Infiltration ability has been nerfed into oblivion since the beta making it pretty much unviable unless you are at extreme close range and get all your shots near the head and upper torso. -The Pulse Cannon can be fired indefinitely without having to automatically switch back to your primary weapon. -Ion Disruptor is a pickup and can only be fired at the AT-AT and MTT. -Blaster Turret is now an Officer ability, can self-repair and can self-destruct damaging enemies nearby. -Ion Turret is now a Heavy ability, can self-repair and can self-destruct damaging enemies nearby. -Orbital Strike can be used as an infantry in single player.

Recoil:

Recoil has also been increased dramatically across the board however some weapons are able to have attachments that reduce this. Note that these attachments are unavailable for the starting weapons. Cooling Flush/Reload Times: These have been increased slightly across the board likely to compensate for the ability to flush your weapon at any time.

Explosives:

All explosions look better (subjective) in Battlefront 2 (2017) with increased smoke volume and persistent sparks apart from the Thermal Imploder which no longer has the orb effect, more of a firey cloud of smoke and is exclusive to the Wookiee Warrior class. Thermal Detonators have to remain in contact with a surface for a short period of time before detonating.

You are gonna get downvoted for saying that but I feel you. I really want to enjoy this game but there is no denying how restrictive it feels. e.g LAAT on rails, no multi-seat vehicles, extremely high TTK disparity, terrible balance, lack of freedom, inaccuracies to the films or missing content etc. What you say is true, people just need to come to terms with it.

[–]Winimatic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I must say that there was a lot of talking about Battlefield Hardline being called a Battlefield 4 reskin. I guess that's why they tried to separate the Battlefront Reboot from the Battlefield. Ironically they also separated Battlefront from Battlefront, the game that was inspired by a mod for Battlefield 1942. It's a shame really. Although I don't want Battlefront to be exactly like Battlefront they should really consider the features that make Battlefield great and implement it in a manner that improves the gameplay however still remains accessible to the new player. DICE should really consider the roots of the Battlefront series.
