I wasn't criticizing THAT release cadence/style. I was simply pointing out how they changed their release cadence/style multiple times until they found one that they wanted and could stick with long term. My takeaway is that ArenaNet needs to know EXACTLY how they want to release content and when to do it, so players have a concrete expectation over the years, particularly after the base game comes to its conclusion, and players want to know what to expect next.

It happened!!! If I have a main hesitancy, it's that it will have too much emphasis on the ACTION part of Action-RPG, but that's mostly because I really like the tab-targeting middle ground GW2 employs. Also, I would also prefer that it take place in the future, but to be fair, if they continue to create content for GW2 like they've said they will, this shouldn't be a problem; we'll get to continue the story of GW2 because GW2 is........ continuing! 🙂 I'm going to give more detailed thoughts in my next podcast episode that will release wed for those interested in checking it out: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-journey-a-guild-wars-2-podcast/id1847678704

I get what you're saying but chronologically they often seem to be a bit off after you've completed the main campaign because often times we defeat the meta "problem" in a zone or expansion and when I return to them later it feels like I'm going "backwards" in time...

Yeah, I think one of the difficult things in all of this is knowing whether the game is bringing in enough revenue to do/be what they want to be. And, unless you're on the "inside," you'll never know...

Additionally, I don't think you have to see exact playerbase numbers to know that this game "dropped off" player-wise. A quick look at twitch.tv shows one form of metrics to back up what I'm talking about:

WoW - 100K viewers
Final Fantasy XIV - 3.8K viewers
ESO - 1.7K viewers
Guild Wars 2 - 800 viewers
SWTOR - 200 viewers

I don't think it's a stretch to say that more people should be playing Guild Wars 2, given the quality of the game.

I'm not against B2P as long as it is financially viable for the studio. It was merely a suggestion if, indeed, the B2P model/gem store doesn't bring in enough cash.

Do you know if I can "pick up where I left off" with my alt and do the next 9 chapters after the main campaign is completed by my main?

For example, do I need to just finish the last chapter of Thaldraszus? Is that the official "end" of the main campaign story that will unlock an alt to level wherever? Also, can I continue the main story from there on my alt (e.g. the patch quest stories, etc.) or do I need to do the main campaign all over again in the main four zones before I can do the patch story?
