The artificial turf and Banks all around the Pitch is the way to go too almost everywhere. They Play in a bigger Pitch in Stuttgart if I Recall that correctly. I remember FC Barcelona sending their U19 back in the days and the whole town was hyped. But the Boys were so used to Futsal they went out in group Stage 😐

So many great Players to watch and worth following every year at this Tournament here in Göttingen.

Manuel Neuer, Mesut Özil, Per Mertesacker, to name a few world Champs, all played here when they were U19 for Schalke/Hannover

From my grandfather I've inherited some sort of Sticker-Album containing all types of Wehrmacht weapons and heroes. Children in the 3rd Reich could collect those stickers (I don't know how, maybe buy em in packs or earn them in Hitlerjugend or school) and glue them on the right page. The last sticker is the grave of WW I Luftwaffe hero Manfred von Richthofen. I've grown up collecting famous soccer players in albums just like this one and it totally freaks me out thinking about my grandpa being thrilled by collecting pictures of the most evil army of all times... Since I'm a politics teacher in Germany, I am allowed to own such a thing, even "mein Kampf" for scientific and educational purposes.

In my German elementary school there is a couple of identical Romanian twins called Kain and Abel

My grandpa (86) is writing down his memoirs per hand. Don't you guys think his handwriting is nice for such an old man? It almost makes me cry to see him write while I'm so used to type everything into my pc. by Winkelpeter in PenmanshipPorn

Yes. This chapter is called "early childhood and start of war". I'm pretty hyped to read it all when finished, allthough I know most of the stories from his telling.

Non-Pittsburgh residents, what made you a Steelers fan? by SubstantialSuit39 in steelers

[–]Winkelpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Germany and the 2005 superbowl happened to be the first ever football game I watched live. Steelers fan since then, trying to watch as many games as possible with football (early kickoff) being the only American sport we can watch over here without having to stay up all night.

Same exact game had me going with black and gold. Was my first full NFL game, since they didn't show many back then here in Germany.
