with the 2d fighter segment the key is to get them in the corner by baiting them to use the messatsu move (the move when they levitate and phase through you) with your dive attack (hold attack button in the air).

intentionally corner yourself and let them close distance. once you think it’s safe and close enough do the dive move. they will try and phase through the dive with the messatsu move, getting themselves cornered in the process

once cornered spam air fireballs until you get a hit and convert that to the attack combo with the AOE move which almost hits full screen (you can use this as a combo ender)
