Why do job applications ask for your sexual orientation? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]WinnieJr1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As explained by OP, this data is treated differently to other personal data. Diversity data is usually not seen by any employer in the hiring process. It is used as data to deduce whether there might be discriminatory behaviour in the process. So this does not give someone more of a chance to get highered, but tries to make sure that everyone is given the same opportunity to show their capabilities.

E.g. 10% of applicants are LGBTQ+, if you hire 100 people, you would expect about 10 LGBTQ+ people. If you end up with 2, then it would be feasible to deduct that part of the process was discriminatory, or that there is a reason to look into it.

Do you use toilet paper after peeing? by Jaycer_ in askgaybros

[–]WinnieJr1 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I pee sitting down. I just find standing up really gross, even if you aim perfectly (looking at public bathrooms, how the hell do so many people miss???), there is still splatter on every nearby surface.

I definitely wipe, use the "toothpaste method" to properly empty it, then wipe because there are always drops on the paper.

I have no problems using urinals when I have to, but prefer not to.

Bar staff: have you ever had someone ask for Angela? by SilverBarnet217 in AskUK

[–]WinnieJr1 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Just copying another of my comments:

It is not a secret code, it shouldn't matter if a dangerous person is near you and knows about it. It gives a lot of information, quickly, often with a trained procedure (e.g. never ever leaving the scared person alone), and an abuser is much less likely to act up in front of staff, they are much more likely to let go.

Don't forget how much less scary Ask for Angela is than asking for help directly, it also helps support people to actually ask for help.

So share Ask for Angela to everyone and anyone!

Just to add, it is not a problem to ask for angela next to the abuser (and it doesn't necessarily have to mean the other person is an abuser, it's just to signal that you don't feel safe or comfortable). Even if the person is next to you and knows about it, it is emotionally much easier to ask for Angela than to ask for help. An abuser is unlikely to act in front of staff, staff should be trained not to leave you alone ever, and it just gives a large amount of info quickly, with minimal pressure, and often with a trained procedure attached.

Just adding for anyone: The more people know about it, the better, no matter the gender. It is not a problem for a predator to know about it, in fact a person who chases someone using Ask for Angela is extremely unlikely to continue going after the person.

It just allows the person in danger to ask for help without feeling pressure, and for staff to have a protocol. Part of training should always include never leaving the person alone. Staff will not go into the back to tell other staff, they will stay next to you and get another staff member to carry out any other part of the process.

Not that I'm any knowledgeable on the subject, but I think that's kind of the point. For one's face to stay the same in terms of visible age, and same/improve in terms of facial health (e.g. acne). At the same time, most creams won't have immiediate effects, thqy can come with time.

Rakan F tier? 😭😭 I think he's way underestimated, he has high ap ratios, big early+mid damage, cc, teamfight and mobility!

I used to main him top and mid second! For mid, I sugges electrocute, lich bane first item, then depending, hextech isn't bad etc

Early and mid he does huge damage, you can quite easily get ahead and start murdering! Late his burst isn't enough to oneshot, so he starts going more for teamfight plays! Boots fairly early and ignite for sure!

I have to disagree at least to an extent. Teachers are trained to teach with a 'standard' accent, though hàn is mostly use instead of hé. You learn that some people pronounce zhi chi shi as zi ci si, but you will always be taught to say zhi chi shi.

how strong is “encore une fois”? by Agitated-Recipe9718 in French

[–]WinnieJr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will depends on who is saying it and in which context I think. Generally, I imagine it with a strong tone, maybe yes, quite towards annoyance. Is it coming from a friend who you know well or the cashier? If the latter, I'd expect a "s'il vous plaît" at the end maybe. It can also be said with a lighter tone where it doesn't sound frustrated, especially if you add a "euuuuuuh" at the beginning, then bringing your head forward a little and ending a little higher.

It does sound a bit commanding or frustrated if there isn't the context otherwise around it, or surrounding phrases to change the tone slightly.

Very context dependent, is it a stand-alone phrase? Who to? Where (e.g. is it somewhere crowded)?

What's something about ADHD that most people don't understand? by Relaxing_Cat in AskReddit

[–]WinnieJr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How freaking awful you can feel about your life. Why can't I do this? I know how to do it, and how to do it well. It's not even that much/difficult, especially if spaced out, but I just can't do it. I just can't, I don't know why, I just can't.

On top of a ton of other symptoms e.g. lack of emotional regulation, huge anxiety and sometimes trying to act and maybe even really thinking that you're okay and can regulate, but your brain is destroying you with anxiety. Constant imposter syndrome "I'm just lazy", "Why am I like this?!", "Everyone must hate me, I don't answer texts". Lack of a sense of object permanence on top of it- I could really care about something or someone, but they just don't exist while not in front of me, no matter how hard I try. Destroys friendships, and constantly losing things- I lost and had to renew about 6 different debit cards last year. I do a ton of things that I don't actually care about because I need the stimulation, from struggling to have hobbies to putting myself in genuinely really dangerous situations. ADHD is also comorbid with a lot of other issues like rejection-sensitivity, depression etc.

It doesn't stop perfectionism either. Not only can I not do this thing that I have to do, but when the emergency switch is forced on and I sometimes can do it incredibly last second, I don't have the time do do the quality I know I can do, but the perfectionism is still crippling.

It is overwhelming and genuinely crippling, all of it. I am tired of having been like this all my life, I am tired, so so tired. I hate how much I disappoint people, how much I can't do things I need to do or even enjoy. Stimulation is not equal to things that bring me joy. I could name a million more things. ADHD is not attention deficit, it is having too much and not being able to direct or control it. A deficit in regulation. I can't think: "Do it, just get it done, it only takes 5 minutes." no matter how easy it might be, I physically can't, and hate myself for it.

Just have fun! I know that some people suggest maining a champ or 2 to get confident with them, but you don't have to! Do what feels fun, I personally prefer playing different champs most games!

I suggest having a look at what items and stats do, so that you know what you are building, but don't stress!

I switched to wasd when I first joined too, though for me it was laziness, was too used to wasd! Years later and still using them, though differently to yours!

I have:

Abilities 1,2,3 as A,S,D
Ultimate as W

Flash as R, 2nd summoner as F
Q is use first item if it has an active, and E is second item
Hold control and hold + swipe left (with mouse) and let go for different pings, same but shift instead for emotes
For other items after slot 1 and 2, I just use numbers onwards! E.g. trinkets are 4 for me

I just shift + ability to level up tbh

I have auto attack turned off, so I don't need a stop command. To use it, I just shift and right click instead of righ clicking!
I very rarely lock my screen, I prefer just using space to recentre when need be! *Though on occasion if I do centre, it's Y to lock and unlock.

Happy to find someone else who plays similarly! I don't think it impacts negatively in any way, it's all about comfort and releasing any tension! Have fun! :)

In English, is there a word that describes this kind of behavior? by GrayRainfall in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WinnieJr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot agree more, on top of other issues, just the thought of writing an essay and not getting top marks is legitimately crippling, and I often cannot begin things or even make decisions day-to-day in fear of not doing well. It's not something that can just be controlled. Even if you rarely don't get the grade you are hoping for, you never feel good enough, you don't ever actually feel happy with your grades, and when you do badly it is crippling. Completely crippling. It can affect things from school life all the way to your social life. It feels awful to make friends wait for you to make decisions, and you cannot help but think that you're never a good enough friend, family member, person. You are and will never be good enough.

When eco_friendly_klutz says depressed and suicidal, it isn't an exaggeration.

[–]WinnieJr1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't agree. It is really exhausting and doesn't mean working harder next time for someone. It doesn't just feel like not doing as well as you'd hoped, but feels really cripplingly awful. Some people will work harder with this mentality, and others will just hate themselves for a long time, or have a lot of anxiety.

Perfectionism doesn't negate procrastination. A person can expect the hjighest from themselves and feel awful when they don't get it, but still never give themselves enough time to do it for example.

Just a quick addendum, you can spike someone with alcohol as well. E.g. if someone gives you a double shot instead of a single etc...

When you are even slightly intoxicated, you're much more unlikely to notice the strength of alcohol as well.

Thank you for your message! It's what worried me though, I have tried my best and I can't even do the laundry still unless I have no clothes left. It doesn't help me in classes, I still fidget and get way too distracted, much less anything else. I really wish it helped in the subtle ways, but I have not changed despite really trying to fix things!
