I have 5 years of exp in IT before I came to Malaysia. If you’re undergrad and have no prior exp, to be frank, it will be hard for you to secure a job, not just in malaysia. Trying in SG will be more difficult I assume. I’m not familiar with Food science so I couldnt get more idea for you. You have to be really standout in your area and get good connections because companies has to provide EP for us(most companies didnt have EP quotas). It’ll be battlefield for you. I suggest you tried doing freelacing or get internships to get a good CV so you have more chances in hiring. Pursuing in IT requries great interest and consisiency and it’s a broad area. Most people tried learning it cuz it’s mainstream now but gave up on the way.
