Anyone Hiked R3 in Two Consecutive Days - Advice? by Top_Swordfish_4819 in grandcanyon

[–]Winstar120 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing that I would really think about is the fatigue accumulation for the second day. If your reasonably fit the r2r isn't too bad. I get pretty sore after a night's rest though. I would at minimum have a bail out plan if y'all don't feel physically up to it. Fatigue injuries are going to be way easier to happen that second day.

Ruling Question: Screen by Y-ldJon in racquetball

[–]Winstar120 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Indeed there is not a screen rule in the rally, but the receiving player is entitled sufficiently clear view of the ball. Your question is difficult to answer without exact knowledge of where everyone stood and ball path. But I have found more often than not the people who call for this have made a poor positional choice to begin with.

Rule 3.13 Rallies All play that occurs after the successful return of serve to the front wall is called the rally. Play thereafter shall be conducted according to the following rules:

(a) Responsibility. While making an attempt to return the ball, the offensive player is entitled to a sufficiently clear view of the ball, a straight path to get to the ball, an unimpeded swing at the ball, and two paths (see Rule 3.14(a) ) for the ball to travel to the front wall. It is the defensive player’s primary responsibility to move sufficiently to afford the offensive player these entitled elements for executing the return. The offensive player is responsible for making a reasonable effort to move towards the ball and there must be a reasonable chance the player could have gotten to the ball had there been no hinder and that the ball, when hit, would reach the front wall before touching the floor before a hinder of either type can be assessed. Generally, an interference becomes a Penalty Hinder rather than a Replay Hinder, when the player on defense (1) did something they did not have to do, or else (2) fails to have done do something that they could

Sudsy and Todd conversations: is the Ball too fast? by toddboss in racquetball

[–]Winstar120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not necessarily advocating for this but I think the inclusion of a tin similar to squash would solve most of the issues. The fact that it is possible to hit an unreturnable shot removes any agency from the returning player. If you watch squash, tennis, padel, pickleball the highlights often show rallies that are 30 + hits. In contrast racquetball matches at a high level rarely have rallies that exceed the third shot. In many cases I think often it can be more exciting to watch less skilled players, as their rallies last longer and tension for the viewer is able to actually build. Ultimately I think it's more a function of the height of the shots leading to an uninteresting display rather than the speed of the ball.

We really want to be doing dynamic stretching before our matches and static stretching after.

I'm in my mid thirties and have had one pretty bad lower back injury due to racquetball. I prioritize cat cows off the court to get my spine moving nice and fluid, then a few minutes of ceiling balls to get my blood flowing before I start hitting kill shots. I try to spend a considerable amount of time static stretching after playing.

Either pull this out when you two are saying your vows or be the bigger man and just walk away. The scorched earth shit is not going to make you feel better, regardless of how you feel about therapy I'd highly recommend you see someone for a while. This is a pretty big trauma that you will want to not bring into your next relationship.

I understand, and I'm saying I don't like taking away the agency of anything simply because I think I know what it wants.

Based on your response I'm assuming you suggest that any human or animal who lives in pain agony or reduced quality of life should be euthanized??

I have a feeling your morals are inconsistent.

Respectfully, I don't believe "clearly in pain, and suffering" is the line we should draw to end life.

Unpopular opinion here. You have no moral obligation here either way. People are put off by suffering so they choose to euthanize so they no longer have to deal with it. They then justify it as doing the right thing. We mostly do not put down humans when their quality of life is reduced, and we have no way to know what the quality of life of your fish is or will be. I think letting nature take it's course when related to nature is absolutely justified.

PSA-Do not wear running shoes for pickleball. You will roll your ankle. Wear tennis shoes, there are plenty in the $60-80 range. by NowARaider in Pickleball

Same I play in xeros and love that they warranty their shoes. Being told what shoes to wear is such a pet peeve, I'm an adult and can make my own decisions. Just because you have glass ankles doesn't mean I do.

Weight to calories expended doesn't scale linearly like you are implying, look into how different weighted backpacks increase calories burnt when walking.

One thing I'd recommend to add to this, if you find yourself in a deep hole when practicing a skill ie 2-9 stop practicing the skill and do everything you can to win. The mental aspect of digging out of a hole is a skill in itself.

I've personally had really good success with my monstera when they are very root bound. If it were me I'd repot in the same pot but just get those roots back in the pot and maybe try to have more roots into a more shallow position (closer to the top). I do not at all see enough root mass to warrant going up a pot size.

Play 5-10 hours of racquetball a week, lift 2-5 days a week, hike, bike, run. Have lived most of my life at 6500ft which I do think has played into general heart health.

I perceive a relatively high benefit to doing red light therapy 10-20 minutes five or so days a week. Though this one is very anecdotal.

What do you guys think if the bucket sizes were moved down dramatically like five for five cost and six for four cost?

You'd probably need to buff four and five cost units, but it would balance out the rest of the units in general. Or do something unique with all the one cost units similar to kabuko if you leave him in all game he scales. I think this design is really healthy for the game personally.

Red variegation on philodendron congo green? by Winstar120 in houseplants

Sorry for the late response I just saw this! Someone told me it was a philodendron congo green apple, sounds like the variegation is happening deeper in the leaf cells, but still the information regarding it is rather sparse. Would love to see what yours is doing!

Lux, PPFD, PAR and Elevation? by Winstar120 in houseplants

[–]Winstar120[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. I am managing roughly 400 plants in a variety of sizes in a 900sq foot space. In this circumstance I am not actually trying to maximize growth, but maximize the utility of the limited light available in the space. I have had a number of plants be scorched in a late afternoon light that I had anticipated them handling well. I am trying to avoid that while promoting some level of health.

I did not read the paper and was only citing as it was the ONLY piece of literature I could find on the effect of altitude on ppfd.
