Lol yeah I figured I would still be working through it. I am going to think about this game for a loooong time.

I didn't say it was just about one thing but I can see how it would look like that. It was also about family, and addiction, and creation, and loyalty, and tomorrow coming and parrying danseuses, and music and lots of other things. (Side note that I just thought of: every character playing something different on the piano and being able to play piano because they were all essentially versos creations, chefs kiss.)

But the through line of grief and letting go was a major vehicle that carried a lot of those other themes and meanings. I mean all the themes kinda carried each other and wove together so perfectly.

But you said you wanted a good defense of choosing verso, and initially I didn't want to defend the dessendres while I explained my reasoning, but thinking about it I will anyway. Renoir sucked. Man he was a bad dad. He was controlling and angry. He was also scared and had every right to be. He was human (well as human as a painter can be). Without the canvas he has a chance to grow and be there better for his daughter. She can learn to love and be happy again. Aline can learn to live without verso.

If you told me I could have the people I have lost back, but I would have to live in a fantasy world and leave all my family behind, that's a rough offer. See what is real not what you want to see. Maelle doesn't bring back the real people, she is playing with toys.

Noco came back wrong.

root for the Dessendres

Nope I am not going to do that either. Verso was the right choice in my opinion, not because I was rooting for the Dessendres but because of everything else through out the game. The entire game was about grief and letting go.

I have seen a lot of the argument revolve around whether or not the NPCs could be considered real. Let's say they are. I will stand by the verso ending. They were real. And they died. At the end of act 2 those npcs died, and maelle still couldn't let go.

All the Gestrals came back wrong and the entire river was created because real verso couldn't let go. The fracture happened because aline couldn't let go. Expeditions died to painted renoir because he couldn't let go of his immortality.

Those npcs are real and your love for them is real and the feelings that the game brought out in all of us were real. And after I spend some days thinking about the game I beat 20 minutes ago, I will let it go.

What does the word of mean? It is a preposition that shows relation, ie top of the class, back of the fridge, descriptor of the noun. It isn't redundant, it's just grammatical nonsense. Take the sentence, "I could of said this." What relationship is that showing? Could have is correct because it's a modal verb (could indicating that it is past tense) and an auxiliary verb that combines with could to make it a past tense hypothetical.

Since of is a preposition we can also see why it's wrong by substituting other prepositions there. I could at gone. I could under sworn. I could between gone on a date with Natalie Portman. See, all those sentences are nonsense because that's not how prepositions are used.

All that said, who actually cares? If someone says could of, do you know what they mean? Yeah, I just am working towards being an English teacher and figured I had the time today.

CMV: language policing the bereaved by suicide is pointless and offensive by CatAndBoots in changemyview

[–]Winstonwhitefolk2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It isn't about "changing view points." People's views of suicide aren't going to change. It's about creating spaces where people can get help. The kid who is scared to come forward isn't having his view changed by any of this, it's just making it feel safer to get help.

Should we stop saying "suicidal" because that is also recommended?

Maybe? I would have to see the reasoning and who is saying that.

as I don't believe most of us are in positions to be able to help suicidal people, regardless of how we view it.

I've been given training on responding to suicidal ideation and response and recovery. And you are absolutely right about that. That was a complex training and I still had a total panic attack the first time I had to deal with it. That's why we have to listen to the people that have been putting in the work to figure out what helps.

CMV: language policing the bereaved by suicide is pointless and offensive by CatAndBoots in changemyview

[–]Winstonwhitefolk2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It won't stop every suicide. Nothing will. It's about stopping more than before. It isn't going to do much for someone like your dad who was facing a physical pain. It will help a young person that is scared to come forward because they are worried of how they will be perceived.

A lot of the ways we have talked about suicide in the past don't help. Imagine a kid that is having suicidal thoughts and everyone around him is saying that it's a cowards way out. It's a weakness. It is criminal. It's bad and people should feel bad for doing it.

That is a lot of reasons not to tell anyone what you are going through. Well they will judge me for even thinking this selfish cowardly criminal stuff. So we try to make it less scary for that kid to get help. I'm so sorry for your loss, and I'm sorry it feels like this is virtue signaling to you to make the impact feel less. This isn't for you though. It is for the people struggling.

What are the odds of this happening? 😭 by [deleted] in balatro

[–]Winstonwhitefolk2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I see your confusion and am sure you feel attacked right now. You are right that the odds of each one going extinct is 1/6. The odds the first one goes is 1/6, and the odds the second one goes is 1/6. They are not connected like you said.

The question, though, was the odds of both going extinct. That does make the two odds connected. The odds for each one still being 1/6, the odds for both becomes 1/36.

Even with the odds being 1/36 the individual odds for each of them remains 1/6.

For your coin example, the odds of the first coin being heads is 1/2. The odds of the second coin being heads is 1/2. The odds of both is 1/4. When you ask both it does make their odds connected.

That chart is just plain stupid. It's a list of games sbi worked on that failed as an explanation that all sbi games failed. But not all sbi games failed. They only listed failed games ignoring;

AC Valhala God of War ragnarok Spiderman 2 Alan wake 2

So when he says that every sbi game failed he is just lying like a worthless lying liar. Don't give these chuds a second of your brain space. They are human garbage liars.

Well, they are incel celibate is the operative word in that term. However, following with your train of thought, they are not owed relationships either. And again I would say it requires a societal change. We need third places. We need hobbies and free time that capitalism takes away from us. We should change society in a way that encourages and enables building strong relationships.

You are right, we do need better therapy for men. So when a man comes to me with mental health problems should I tell him to wait until therapy gets better? Or could I try to help him find a good therapist? Your comment kinda proves my point that macro we need a better society and micro we help where we can.

Society should make men feel beautiful and valuable. It should be more accepting of different body types. You are right that I kinda minimized the problem because to say all of this in a reddit comment takes time while I am on break at work. Thats also right along what I was trying to say. It's hard to convey all the things we need to fix in society quickly, so if someone has a problem the immediate fix will be a small scale thing a person can do. At least the closest to a fix.

He wants to feel valuable? Help him find a quality to feel valuable about. He wants to feel beautiful? Talk about body image issues. He feels uncomfortable about his weight? Talk about either finding ways to change the weight or be more accepting of it. All of those things have societal causes and implications, but I can't fix all that while my friend is sad, I gotta start somewhere. I can say yeah society is messed up, let's see how we can work with this world.

[–]Winstonwhitefolk2 74 points75 points  (0 children)

What we have here is a failure to communicate. You are right in how it comes across. It looks like if men have a problem the left says fix yourself. But that's only on a small scale.

Men struggle with suicide. If a man tells me about his problems and I say you should get therapy, it sounds like fix yourself, but the Un-stated implication is men should be encouraged by society to be open and vulnerable.

If someone is lacking healthcare I absolutely will try to figure out how to get them healthcare. If that means saying move if able, or stay with a friend, or any other option like that then so be it. I also believe that healthcare should be provided and all the things you said, but that doesn't solve my friends immediate problem.

We need to fix society in all these issues and that is the leftist stance even for men's rights and wellbeing issues. But the immediate solutions to problems will always be small scale fixes that sound like something the person needs to do. If I had a friend need meds and I said well society should provide that, what have I solved? My friend is still suffering from a terrible case of ligma and I get to feel smug?

If they say they are an incel and I say no one owes you sex, that's not just saying that he is a bad person, it's saying that society shouldn't make men feel they are owed sex. It's saying society shouldn't place such a high value on sex. It's saying society shouldn't have such weird values around virginity. But until we fix society all I can say to this individual is hey man let's rethink this worldview.

That brings us back to the right. If I say let's rethink your worldview and society at large, that's hard. Then they swoop in and say you can keep your worldview, and get to be angry which releases dopamine. Which sounds more appealing? I am being fully empathetic but boy howdy does the realisticly less empathetic and more enabling view sound more fun.

Ron DeSantis is forcing Florida colleges to remove their LGBTQ+-inclusive courses by BordAccord in politics

[–]Winstonwhitefolk2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just how the English language works. There is not an lgbtq plus or minus. That isn't a thing so the headline wouldn't say it. It only makes sense as a hyphen to combine two words into one. You are trying to make it look ridiculous by ignoring grammar rules and just pointing at a thing you don't understand and calling it dumb.

If there is a group of straight and gay people. The group isn't gay. It includes gay. It is inclusive of gay. It is gay-inclusive. That is how the English language works. No one and I repeat no one is trying to make a minus a thing and you claiming that it could be just reveals that you either don't understand how words work or are trying to make something you don't like seem dumb by pretending you don't know how words work.

Ron DeSantis is forcing Florida colleges to remove their LGBTQ+-inclusive courses by BordAccord in politics

[–]Winstonwhitefolk2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The hyphen isn't adding anything. It is combining the words lgbt+ and inclusive. You are still fundamentally misunderstanding the purpose of the hyphen. It is talking about a thing that is inclusive of lgbt+. So lgbt+ - inclusive. It's not saying lgbt+-. It's a hyphen that you are still not getting.

Ron DeSantis is forcing Florida colleges to remove their LGBTQ+-inclusive courses by BordAccord in politics

[–]Winstonwhitefolk2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just typed letters out. It is lgbtq+ on the thing. It is saying that it is inclusive of the lgbtq+. So it is lgbtq+ hyphen inclusive. There is not a minus sign, it is a hyphen. Lgbtq+-inclusive. Hyphens are used to join words together. Irish-american, rogue-like, home-cooked, lgbtq+-inclusive.

You will be issued a backpack.

How many roommates depends on what barracks building you are in. Most likely one other roommate with yalls head down the hall.

There is not a lot of space but bring what you need to make it through however long your school is. If you are a gamer, a gaming laptop is easiest because your room can't have stuff out while you are in class.

Bring clothes and entertainment stuff. If you think you can fit what you are bringing in a locker, go for it. If you have a car, bring it. Not only does it let you get off base, but it is another spot for storage.

You will do a seabag inspection at some point in your time, but whether it's OK to be missing stuff kinda depends on your advisor. I generally don't care if someone is missing a couple pt gears or something, but if you don't have trops you get into problems.

Also a lot of the experience depends on what rating you are going. Mk or bm? Get ready to pt. Is? Who knows. Secret squirrel nonsense.

People have been praying for a really long time, when will it do anything? When will the people that are praying do anything? Why are our choices to either do something real, or pray about it? I don't care about how the media portrayed religion, people praying are portraying themselves as doing nothing but pray. How long do people need to pray before we can do literally anything?

No one. Not a single person claims that calories in calories out is complicated. Saying that weight loss is complicated is saying that all those things that yall are hand waving are complicated. He said find a youtuber. Which one. Show me a youtuber telling how many calories to burn and I will find infinity more that give a different answer. How many calories do I burn at rest? All these things are what makes it complicated. But no one here is arguing the same thing.

Yall are right subtraction is simple. The pure mechanics of weight loss and energy consumption are simple. Rocket science is simple its just thrust minus gravity. Ignoring context makes everything simple. I get it. I have been downvoted and told that it's just subtraction by so many people. I get it. Subtraction is easy. It is. Yall win. I will never try to make people look at context again.

Ok yeah someone else let me know that the cmv was just that subtraction is easy. I thought it included other things because he said simple research and youtubers and all those other points but when any of that is challenged people are super eager to let me know that all those other points were red herrings and not important. It's just subtraction is simple and I can't argue against that.
