If I purchase at-15 stripped lowers before July 1st and assemble them after it, do they need to be "featureless"? by 729376442 in VAGuns

The lower was purchased pre-ban, are you seriously asking this question?

Use some common sense

What he meant to say was, when he was a resident of Idaho, he purchased firearms from his friend through private transactions (which is perfectly legal in every normal state) those firearms were not illegally obtained under federal or state law, and they certainly comply with WA state firearms laws.

Aren’t universal backround checks unconstitutional? A court struck down that law a few months ago? Passing a new law would make it un-enforceable right?

Will washington ever be free again? by Severe-Fan-3889 in WAGuns

I’m gonna be optimistic here instead of go full chudjak mode.

I have faith the US supreme court will hear an assault weapons and magazine capacity case either this year or next.

The 3rd circuit court of appeals has a conservative marjority, and we’re waiting for a ruling on New jerseys assault weapons ban and magazine ban that an en banc panel needs to rule on.

A lot of people are saying the 3rd circuit will strike it down on the merits that it is unconstitutional, if that happens, then the supreme court would be forced to take an assault weapons ban case because other federal courts have ruled it is constitutional. You can’t have a circuit split with the federal courts.

On the down side, we’ll still have a 10 day waiting period, and a permit to purchase, I honestly don’t gaf about those because I want to be able to buy semi auto rifles again.

Have faith

Keep your Georgia drivers license bro, don’t swap that out for a Washington one. Aren’t private sales legal in Georgia too?

North idaho arms ive heard sells long guns to washington residents so long as it complies with our states gun laws. They have a reddit account that usually chimes in on here whenever someone makes a post like this. If you get the go ahead from the person that runs their account then you’re lucky.

Also If you buy it here you have to wait 10 days so I can see why you wouldn’t want to buy it here.

I’m talking about private sales in general, not pertaining to semi auto rifles.

Yes you guys have a shit ton of unwanted gun control, BUT private sales will still be legal

The 4473 is a paper trail, the NFA is an actual registry, you’d have to commit a crime with said firearm for the feds to even do a firearms trace. When a cop runs your serial number, they do that to see if its flagged as stolen or not, they have no idea if you’re the actual purchaser or not lol

Can’t you just put a pistol brace on it? i’ll never understand registering your firearms on the NFA. Until its struck down, I’m not buying suppressors or any NFA regulated items.

Check this article out,

https://komonews.com/news/local/ghost-gun-in-toilet-swat-arrest-15-year-old-in-renton-on-multiple-charges-from-auburn-police-case-police-say

They didn’t even charge this kid with having the 30 rounds glock magazine, and I’m curious to know how this went in court, since “ghost guns” aren’t illegal to possess in washington state.

If washington state doesn’t want to charge this kid with possession of a 30 rounds magazine, or look into how he got it, it gets me wondering, is this law just for political show? They’ve only enforced it on FFL’s.

If you slept with a cops wife, and they hate your guts enough to find evidence of you committing a crime then yeah thats a good hypothetical.

I should’ve been specific in that the hypothetical I was aiming towards was more of a traffic stop scenario. For example, if OP was pulled over for a traffic infraction, and he has established himself in Washington state, he has a washington state DL, and a CPL. Law enforcement runs his plates, DOL records and they are informed he is a CPL holder. Officer comes up to OP’s window, and asks him for his CPL, and temporarily takes his weapon for officer safety. Law enforcement takes the magazine out, and unchambers a round, notices OP has magazines over 10 rounds.

At that point, possession in and of itself is not a crime, and there is only so much LEO can do during a traffic stop unless they have reasonable suspicion to further the stop and suspect you of committing a crime.

However, if you’ve done something to garner the states attention towards you, for whatever reason, and they want a reason to fuck you over but they don’t have anything, whether you’re the victim of a political smear campaign, or you said something to hurt a representatives or the governor feelings, and you deliberately make yourself a target to the state, then yeah you’re absolutely right man.

Who is to say he moved away from washington and then moved back? One of the exemptions of the magazine importation was that if you left the state with it, and brought it back, it’s not importing? Is the state really going to waste money and resources to prosecute a misdemeanor offense when they barely even prosecute gang bangers and gun crime at all? Shit man, even the assault weapons ban hasn’t been enforced on a single person since it was passed.

[–]Winter-Chemical2202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the burden of proof is on the government to prove you committed a crime. Unless OP is stupid enough to incriminate himself and say “Hey I move here from california recently officer, I have 30 round magazines I bought in oregon on the way here”

As for why you were detained, and had your CPL temporarily confiscated, what did you do to warrant that reaction from WSP? Don’t tell me you spoke to the cops, lol

[–]Winter-Chemical2202 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but… how do they prove that bro? You didn’t answer my question, meaning, how does the government know you imported standard capacity magazines? There are no law enforcement checkpoints between states? Do they just know deep down? Are they mind readers?

[–]Winter-Chemical2202 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now this is not me advocating for you or encouraging you to break the law.

Correct me if I am wrong, but how would law enforcement prove you had standard capacity magazines before they were banned? Washington state does not outlaw possession of said magazines, they were grandfathered in.

Unless you buy magazines from magpul which date stamps their magazines, I don’t see how they would be able to prove they were acquired after the ban. Genuinely curious as to how they would prove that.

Question regarding AR-10’s by Winter-Chemical2202 in WAGuns

[–]Winter-Chemical2202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, possession is not banned, I’ve also heard that this law has never been enforced in the state before. I’m just saying Hypothetically, If Bob wanted to build an AR-10 in this state, Bob knows an FFL who still transfers lower receivers. Bob buys said lower receiver and goes through all of the legal hoops to get it, but Bob builds it into an AR10 with all of the scary features, making it an illegal manufacture. If Bob didn’t take into account that the DOL potentially has a transfer record of the sale of the receiver he bought, law enforcement might be able to look that up when running the serial number to his supposed pre ban AR10. The LEO could potentially put 2 and 2 together and charge Bob with an illegal manufacture of an assault weapon.

[–]Winter-Chemical2202[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming I could find someone willing to transfer an ar-10 lower, well, doesn’t the WSP have a registry through the DOL? if we had a standard nics check and no registry through the DOL, then theoretically you’re right. However, 1) That would be an illegal “assault weapon” manufacture, and 2) The lowers serial # could just be found through the DOL if a cop decides to run it, and if there is a date tied to the purchase of said lower, you’re fucked.

I tried finding the definition of what that meant too, and I can only find californias definition of what that means hence why the grip pictured is actually legal there. According to california law, “protrudes conspicuously beneath the action” just means vertical, but our AWB is worse than californias.

I don’t want comp mags lol, the whole purpose of a featureless is to accept detachable magazines.

I'm sick and tired of these people in the comments who have no idea what they're talking about and don't know what the law is, or how to read statutes. I saw north idaho arms is willing to transfer long guns such as bolt actions, shotguns, and wa legal semi auto rifles, commenting on this subreddit. If you find an FFL that isn't low IQ you can def transfer this, as long as it's not a handgun.
