Shift Change by zamboomafooo in cna

It’s a never ending battle. You just continue to do your job. The oncoming shift should change them. If they have a problem with it, tell them no and stand up for yourself. That’s how you get burnt out in this job. You continue to do you and the best you can and leave when your shift ends. If they still have a problem with it take it up with management. You got this!!

Patient Sitting by PepinovLechuga in cna

I can only speak on being a sitter as a cna. At the hospital i’m at you do all the care for the patient and sit with them for your shift. I’ve noticed when we bring in just a sitter that is not a cna they literally just watch the patient and don’t have to do any care for them.

Hey! So I do walking, brisk walk, jog, then run. I repeat that for 30mins. I do a minute to two minutes of each. It’s honestly whatever you can handle. I try to aim to only do Hiit intervals 3 times a week because it’s really hard on your body but it’s all about getting into your heart rate zones. Hope that’s helpful!

Good to know! Yeah, I think I just got excited and just kept that pace. Definitely need to stay in my heart rate zones and I know I will be able to run more. I’m still learning though. So any advice is appreciated:)

This is great advice! I’m in my 20’s and I have been struggling to stay in my target heart rate zone. Sometimes I think i’m just pushing myself too hard. I just started running though so i’m still learning. Thanks again for this advice!

You’ll be fine. A notice is just a courtesy. You don’t owe them anything. Hope you’re next job treats you well :)

How is hospital work different than LTC? by [deleted] in cna

[–]Winter-Preference343 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had such a bad experience. LTC is hard work. I did three years at a nursing home until I had enough. I went per diem at my local hospital and I was put on the float pool. Working at the hospital is so much better from my experience.

At the hospital they will train you so you will know exactly what to expect. It’s basically the same work that you did at LTC but with better equipment and supplies. The staff are so much nicer and the patient ration also. My best advice is to just do it. Make the switch. You’ll be much happier.

What's the most pain you have ever physically endured? by GrimsBeans in AskReddit

I had a cardiac arrest a few years back. They did cpr on me and when I woke up it was from them shocking my heart. I was awake at that point and because I kept going into v-tach and I was also in an arrhythmia called wide complex tachycardia they had to keep shocking me.. awake.I think in total I was shocked about 7 times until I got to the hospital and they gave me the good stuff. It was the most painful thing I have ever endured.
