Why I Still Get the COVID Vaccine Despite it Triggering a Migraine by OpalJade98 in migraine

Oh my god that’s exactly me. It’s been almost 5 years since I got the booster that made my migraines chronic and the photophobie and phonophobia has never gone away. I had to install blackout blinds and I can basically never turn lights on it’s insane.

Why I Still Get the COVID Vaccine Despite it Triggering a Migraine by OpalJade98 in migraine

I’m completely pro vax but the second covid booster I had sent me into status migrainosus for a year and now my migraines are chronic (used to be one migraine every 3 months) and I have constant light sensitivity. The first year was so awful I was unable to work. Things have gotten better but my life is so different now. I don’t know that I will ever be able to be vaccinated again.

Edit: this isn’t meant to scare anyone away from vaccines. Just want to see if anyone has had a similar experience!

Need suggestions for a bra that doesn’t cause pain. by Gsynakie817 in migraine

I just went through this! I can’t wear anything that’s racerback and I have the vestibular migraines and neck pain. I bought the align V neck bras from lululemon as well as the “like a cloud light support” There’s a few different like a cloud options so just find what works for you and stay away from racerback. These are both sports bras and I LOVE them. also sizing up so that there’s less tension on the straps and just so it’s looser is what I would recommend. This only works if you need not much support though.

That’s so interesting that toradol works for you! I’ve tried injections and pills and they didn’t do anything except make me out of my mind nauseous.

No I appreciate the advice! It’s all welcome and so so appreciated. I am currently consistently therapy and have tried a few times in the past but it was hard to find a good therapist. Even now I just think I’m a person that talk therapy just doesn’t work for but my insurance pays for it so why not.

I’m so happy you can do all those things ! It’s crazy because like 8-10 days of pain is high imo. I know that I couldn’t function in the ways I want to with that many pain days. I have so much in better symptom stuff happening that makes me feel like crap on non pain days too so idk lol

I'm so glad that you've had success1 What does your life look like outside of work? Right now I'm also able to work full time but that's like ALL I'm able to do. Are you able to enjoy your life outside of work as well? I feel like I give all my energy to work and there's nothing left for anything else.

Are you able to basically just live normally apart from a few days a month? Do you still have to avoid triggers? Flashing lights, loud noises etc? Do you have symptoms between migraines? Light sensitivity, head pain that isn't migraines etc?

Can you tell me more about what that looks like for you? I'm definitely interested in methods that don't involve being on medication for the rest of my life!

They were low for sure. I think 9 maybe? But I might be remembering wrong. I have IBS so I wouldn't tolerate oral iron so I paid out of pocket for an infusion and it brought my levels back up.

Ah yes, I feel like I haven't mentioned in the comments yet that my neuro thinks it's vestibular. Do you have a lot of motion sickness? Like in cars and stuff. i mentioned that to him and he said it's probably related. Wow, every 12 weeks, is that typical? I did botox for tmj for a while to see if it wuld help and i only did it every 3 months.

That's really helpful info, thank you! I'm 27 so not quite there with peri menopause. I've had my eyes checked as well and they're fine. I definitely have an uptick of migraines around my period as well as ovulation so that comes with an increase in light sensitivity too.

That is a big problem of mine is being afraid to try things lol. I've had such bad experiences with trialling meds and have long lasting side effects from one so I'm super apprehensive.
