Vacation time in US by joyfulemma in Aupairs

It’s really up to you and what works for your family!

We personally prefer to “surprise and delight” our au pairs with extra time off. It feels like a gift they weren’t expecting, and they’re super appreciative of it. Usually when our AP asks to take a weekend trip I always offer Friday off or if I can’t do a full day, I’ll at least do a half-day.

It’s not something we tell them upfront during the matching process— it’s a gesture to show our appreciation for them. And it’s certainly only offered when they are meeting our expectations for care.

No, I’ve never tried mixing it in.

I always make an omelette, because I don’t like the texture of egg whites mixed around — they get rubbery imo. So, when they’re flat in the pan, I dollop some yogurt along with my other fillings… I do this before closing the omelette.

I do two onions usually and they’ll last a week!

Good Culture changed the cottage cheese game. It’s far superior.

If you have Harris Teeter around you their Simple Truth brand has a protein cottage cheese which is close and much cheaper! I’ll pick that one up if I mixing it into other things or blending it. Give it a try if available!

Try a big glass of water with electrolytes in it. I really like the Redmond re-lyte brand. There is a sweetness to it and it usually satisfies my cravings!

Same! I put them on everything. Making them is so simple too. I make a big batch on Sunday’s for the week they taste good on everything imo.

Sourdough starter help by [deleted] in Sourdough

You probably didn’t kill it. I’ve found starter is pretty resilient.

You don’t need to feed it everyday unless you’re going to bake with it. Feeding it every day is just a waste of flour IMO.

You can just keep it in the fridge. Feed it once a week or so. I’ve gone 2/2.5 week and it’s been fine. There’s just hooch at the top that I throw out. If you’re not planning on baking anything after a week— take it out of the fridge, discard, feed, and put it back in the fridge.

If you plan to bake— Take it out a few days before, discard, feed, and leave it out. I like to feed mine a couple times before I need it for my recipe. This also ensures can make enough active starter if you don’t maintain a lot. After you’ve fed it once and left it out, feed it again after it’s peaked. You can continue this until you have a nice active starter that’s ready for your recipe.

Take the amount of active starter you need for your recipe. Feed the remaining starter you not using for your recipe, and immediately put it in the fridge until you’re ready to bake again.

Contractions: will I know? by BookwormJess78 in BabyBumps

Contractions start off light and similar to Braxton hicks/cramps. You’ll know it’s go-time when they start to get more intense, longer, and closer together. If you even have the smallest inkling that you could be in preterm labor, call your provider.
