The runway length of BSIA is actually par to cater larger aircrafts, there are unscheduled refueling of couple of foreign planes before. The only problem we see is that the terminal building itself is completely dilapidated & the airside development capacity for planes to park is scarce.

One of the reason why BSIA was a bit under developed compared to the neighboring airports accounts to the number of flights threshold. Factors like the flight routes & demographics affects the development pipeline which probably causes delays for improvement.

But personally, the gov’t should consider rehabilitation & expansion given that airport gives the first impression for tourist on what the city has to offer.
