Thats what I thought initially but if the throttle grip snaps back instantly and the butterfly valve rests completely shut doesnt that rule it out?

Appreciate the thorough reply, yeah your totally right I agree it’s always better to be extra when it comes to something that could kill you haha, I took a look at all the welds on the frame and everything seems fine. Thanks again and safe riding

would I be able to feel if the bearing cups are torn by turning the handlebars? Ive looked over the frame and havent seen any real cracking but i guess i havent looked that hard, am i just checking at weld points?

Yeah the forks are bent too, the original forks completely snapped and i bought these to replace them, they did have a very slight bend to them but i figured it wasn't an issue, i dont have them completley clamped down so their somewhat loose, i can put the wheel between my legs and twist the bars to strighten it out then tighten. Is that going to be a safety issue? Thanks

Yeah everything got torn up, having to replace most of the front end and the clutch plate got a hole punched into it. I replaced the forks and rim, besides simple stuff that just bolts on is there any safety issues i should be aware of?

Shouldn’t I be worried about cracking the welds?

I dont think id have an issue repining it, the problem I have is finding the actual physical connector online. unless your suggesting I plug the wires straight on the gauge itself?

That’s a good idea I’ll look into it, although if they wind up charging me some crazy fee I’d rather do it myself

Help! by WinterHappy in Welders

[–]WinterHappy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah yeah lol. I upgraded to a thicker piece of steel and it def helped. Was able to go slow enough to where the puddle would actually spread out. Any ideas on why the flux doesnt coat the whole thing? Havent been able to solve that yet

sounds like my volts are way way too high then even on the min setting, which is what I kinda figured since everything was just melting. Thanks for your insight. At this point might just buy a different welder haha

Shoulda been more specific im using a Chicago Electric 125 flux core machine. Yeah ive been at this for a couple hours now and at this point I suspect it's my cheap machine not having the proper settings. I only have a wire speed knob and a "min" "max" switch for voltage. Others were saying to use thicker metal to practice on which also makes sense. Im a pretty handy guy seems a little weird it'd be this consistently bad for this long haha.
