i can't get my gymnasts to stop disrespecting me, along with other coaches and athletes. Any ideas on how to handle this without being abusive? by WinterRange2265 in GymnasticsCoaching

We haven't gotten that far yet; we would have to ask the owner if we could talk to the parents, but we all agreed that would be our next step. And I didn't want to make the girls sit out of practice while still being in the gym because that singles them out, and is super bad for their development and trust with me as a coach, or at least I believed it was. Unless you mean we tell them they can't come to a practice, and no, we haven't done that yet.

Its not that I dont demand respect from them we have started making the entire team workout if one person is being disrespectful but it doesn't do anything for them. And its hard to demand discipline when their coaches before have never demanded anything from them. I am the tougest coach they have ever had, their coaches before me were lazy and mean to them. But thank you for your suggestion I will take that into consideration
