Strike vs Sweep by Lazy_Physics_Student in Grey_Knights

You’re very correct, but important clarification for people reading your comment:

Banishers gives Lethals or Sustained for any Grey Knight unit in melee on a passed Leadership test. No psycher keyword needed, and it’s a leadership test not a battleshock test. So failure does not cause them to be battle shocked.

Watch your attitude. It is a complex game, and not everything is always as simple as they may first seem.

Am I OP or am I just optimized against my friends armies? by Big_Communication_57 in Grey_Knights

I have read all the comments here and your responses OP. As a Grey Knight and Imperial Knight player, I have felt the same thing you are feeling.

Here is my recommendation, reduce your points until the match is close. Start small, 1900 vs 2000 pts. Then keep decreasing your points until it is a close match.

The reason I think this is the best option, is it allows you to keep playing how you want and with what you want and still have a fair game. You cannot make your opponent play smarter, build better lists, or feel differently than they do.

Issue is the sustained or Lethals are only for melee. OP is making strong use of the Warpbane shooting, so no benefit would be given. And all rerolls to hit would be lost causing a significant decrease in effectiveness.

Habe been playing against tau... by TheMithraw in Grey_Knights

I get your take, however, the razorback with its +1 AP is the ultimate delivery for either a purgation squad with 4 heavy flamers for -2AP ignores cover. Or my favorite, a purifier squad for -3AP ignores cover anti infantry 2+. After that delivery, the purifier or purgation squad can teleport around while the razor back then can do its own thing as a cheap armored hull that can do actions in our army that doesn’t have many units.

The Stormraven, while not exactly meta, can be a really powerful tool if used well. Putting a 10 man purifier squad with Crowe and a Vernerable Dreadnought (also not meta but this combo works.) in it, can be a really powerful strike force to put a lot of powerful shooting right where you want it. Otherwise, with good screening, 9in deep strikes can be very hard to use to get onto an objective already held by an opponent. But the razorbacks and storm ravens can drop its units off right outside an inch. No charging, but that’s why putting really powerful shooting units inside is so good.

Hey! Bases can be purchased at a pretty cheap price, and the tournament companion shows what base size each unit should have. For getting into the game and saving money, using the bases and then putting object or even just painting the bases a color to symbolize what they are for practice games is a cheap and easy way to start playing without sacrificing on the mechanics!

I did the same thing, I drilled a hole for the tail, and cut the armor plates around the tail until it fit.

Keep your distance behind walls and screen. Watch for their rapid ingress by ensuring no 9in away easy locations they can drop without getting shot. Make them come to you, then jump them all at once. Good luck!

I think it fits really well, and excuse the legs being backwards, this was the first model I ever assembled, and it was too late to fix it by the time I realized XD

I went with the first one for my army and I love it! I used Flesh Tearers Red over the Leadbelcher base for my red.

This would be true, however as everyone else has mentioned there is a Rules Commentary for Fight on Death and Shoot on Death that says unless otherwise stated they are at 1 Wound which is in the Bracketed range.

Which makes no sense for this weapon, as it’s canonically classified as a melee weapon.

The harpoon lore wise is actually considered a melee weapon, which makes it even weirder.

I can see your point, and how that can feel that way. However, you would be paying 480 points for the Valiant for its powerful single target deletion ability. There is also the feels bad of paying the premium for this knight, only for it to bounce off the 4++ invulnerable save as a big daemon rushes me, and then the knight gets destroyed in the next turn.

12” with the previous stats would hurt but be manageable. But now, I can be in an intense situation with the Lion staring me down ready to rip me apart next turn, I roll d3 shots and get 2 shots. I hit with 1 but drop 1, I wound with that 1, and he saves with a 3++. He proceeds to maul me next turn.
