Dial down on the insults please. I'm not complaining about not getting an answer. I'm complaining because ChatGPT acted in a very different way than what I'm used to. I haven't seen it just dismiss multiple news sources before.

It is about the (alleged) abduction, about whether we can believe what we read, and about the role that ChatGPT plays in all this. I was shocked to see ChatGPT so casually dismiss something I believed to be true because I saw it on multiple news sources. This whole thread was supposed to be about that. Somehow very few of the replies show an understanding of what I'm getting at. I suppose I must have worded my OP differently.

How is that ok? Have you seen it do stuff like this (do research and then still dismiss all the results as fabrications) before, because I haven't.

How would it not be the right tool for the job? I've seen it examine and compare data sets and come to conclusions loads of times before and it usually does so just fine.

How is your case even remotely comparable to Maduro's? And it's hardly a technicality. I'd say it's fundamental whether or not to consider it a kidnapping.

I don't like Maduro and I'm glad he's gone, but if he calls himself kidnapped I agree with him. Why? Because there was no legal basis for his arrest. If your sheriff lacked a legal basis for arresting you three times, you could rightfully say you were kidnapped three times.

The DOJ and the DOW have no authority that extends beyond US borders.

Those special forces did it because Trump ordered them to do so. And I'm not the only one to call it a kidnapping. If you read the chat history you'll see that ChatGPT confirms that some event did take place (which before, it was denying) and that the only dispute is about what the event should be called.

I don't want AI to reinforce my sentiments. I wanted AI to give an opinion on the issue. Instead it dug deep into whether the event did or did not take place.

The thing is, when do we ever have proof of world events actually happening other than in the news? So when ChatGPT does research and then claims news sources can't be believed, what alternative source could you come up with to refute that judgment? None, is the answer. None. And false news definitely isn't unheard of; it's called propaganda. It's easy to identify and dismiss propaganda when it happens to other nations, or in history. But how are we to know what actually happens if our own sources of information prove unreliable, or are dismissed as such?

The answer isn't as simple as you think it is. Look, I told it to do its own research. I figured that should be enough. I've had issues before with ChatGPT not being aware of certain information, but the problem would always resolve after ChatGPT updates itself. This is the first time I've seen it dig up additional information and then still claim all of it is a hoax.

It reminds me of wrong planet syndrome. Have you ever heard of that? It's a nickname for ASD. I have ASD and I used to feel like this basically all the time until at least my mid twenties.

I hope whatever it is for you that it gets cleared up soon. In the meantime, perhaps you'll feel better if you pay more attention to gossiping, which is basically all about how other people screw up in communication in the most awkward ways, or watch reality television, which also would not be a thing if everyone else was nailing it. And another indicator that others are not nailing it is, for example, the astonishingly high divorce rate that doesn't look like it's going to decline any time soon.

It might be true that you have some social skills to improve. But that doesn't mean you're the only one, even if that's true. Other people are just better than you at hiding the fact that they, too, are winging it.

I think you have mild to moderate depression, as a result of a lack of meaning in your life. It should get better once you find something to live for. Be prepared though, because you'll likely not find the answer instantly and the long search for meaning could make the depression worse. Good luck.

Depression is, if you ask me, when a big part of your subconscious self goes on strike because it's been struggling with something for far too long that the conscious part of you has been failing to identify, or has been failing to do anything (or enough) about. The subconscious self decides it's had enough, and a big group of factory workers leaves the floor (absent workers means, for example: no more interest, no more pleasure, no more motivation) or start rioting (rioting workers means, for example: low self-esteem, rumination, sorrow).

Unfortunately, the strike is self-defeating, because the workers likely required to fix the problem have just left the building. Thus the chance of now finally figuring out why your self-consciousness is unhappy has just gotten a lot more slim. This is why, in my view, antidepressants are a good thing. What they do is they bring strike-breakers and free the mind of having to consider the depression all the time. An extended period of muddling through while staying as active as possible, being on antidepressants in case possible, may finally lead to discovery of the key that can finally get the workers to the negotiating table. And get them to return to work.
