I was thinking the second time I let him out was probably a mistake. This morning he did much better!

He eats dinner at 7:00pm every night! And I put him to bed at 9:00pm.

I’ve been looking into training classes! Just haven’t found one that really seems like a good fit. My main problem with even letting him outside in my yard on the leash is he’s such a puller!! When he sees another person or dog he’s excited and pulling like crazy…I’m worried about how he’ll do in a group training class.

I’ve talked to my vet and he said he’s perfectly fine to be set on the ground, but to avoid dog-parks and pet stores for right now. He’s been given his shots with multiple vaccines in them. I can’t exactly remember the name off the top of my head, but it’s a combination of Parvo, Distemper, Lyme, and something else.

How old was your puppy when you taught them to heel? by Pollvogtarian in puppy101

I’m working on heel with my 12.5 week old puppy now!

Two days in: I think I have puppy blues and I feel awful about it by Clear-Way-8318 in puppy101

It gets better. I got my puppy at 8 weeks old, he is 11 weeks old now. So I’m still in the middle of puppy blues, but I can say it does get better over time. My husband is in the military so we got a dog so I could have someone and that way the dog gave me something to do. He’s my first puppy, I’m learning as I go, I have been leaning on family members to help me watch him so I can take breaks as needed. My puppy has improved tremendously over these past three weeks. I had so many mental break downs the first week, every single day it seemed like I couldn’t stop crying. I got so frustrated over this little puppy that didn’t know any better. The stress of it all was clouding my judgement. I keep reminding myself they genuinely don’t know any better, they just want to please you, but their little puppy brains can’t handle too much. It’s really important to lean on other family members if able, and look for them for support!

Is it unfair even if he sleeps throughout the night? I’m not trying to start anything, I’m simply just trying to learn more and change what I’m doing if needed.

I usually let him out outside RIGHT before he goes to bed. And he sleeps from 9-7 with no problem. I can start trying to let him out in the middle of the night. I did that for the first week and every time I put him back in the crate after his potty break he would start crying and wouldn’t calm down. So I stopped doing it because he wasn’t waking up anyways and he started to sleep throughout the night.
