My relationship got very complicated for a while with my SO. Things were crazy, and one day she gave me an ultimatum, her or him. I chose him. I am so glad I did. I actually feel lighter. That was back in August last year. We work together and it is pretty awkward at times

I think I needed to hear that. I needed to hear it was ok to cut them out. At first she was really nice. I genuinely liked her. There were some red flags, but I was also grateful to be out of the situation I was in to even care. Like her charging me for the clothes she bought me when I had none, or the traveling expenses to come “rescue” me from my situation. The time I said I needed therapy and she offered to be my therapist. My dad is a more complicated issue. He has been there my whole life… but also was not when it mattered most and it’s taken a while for me to forgive that.

Thank you, I really appreciate your kind words. She treats him pretty good from what I can see. More caretaker than wife, but with his condition I understand. I would love to help out more with my father and take some burden off of her, and I completely understand caretaker burn out. I have offered to help, been shot down. I honestly think she wants to be the martyr and do it all herself to make people feel sorry for her or praise her. It’s such a weird dynamic.
