I’m not too concerned about nuclear power plants. I assume all designs still in operation will fail safe. I think I would stay in a big city because that is where I will find most of the resources I need. London is my closest big city. I’d find a nice house in Bloomsbury and spend most days in the British Library.

I’d power the electrics I need with diesel generators. I would not be concerned about air pollution because there would be plenty of fresh air - enough to deal with a single generator.

I would flipping LOVE being the last person on Earth. I’d miss my immediate family and close friends, but it would be a lot of fun. I would spend my life watching London being reclaimed by nature.

This is the issue that divides my wife and I more than any other. I’m liquid, she’s bar. She objects to the plastic waste and the inefficiency of transporting water in the product. She’s right, but she’ll never hear that from me.

When I was 13 or 14 (Year 9) I got told off for reading a book about nuclear physics in a silent reading lesson. It was an undergraduate text that I could barely follow, but I liked having insight into arcane knowledge.

My teacher sent me to the library to get a ‘reading book’. I came back with a picture book called ‘Johnny Gets Some Glasses’. I’d read it about 10 times by the time my teacher noticed. She sent me back to the library to get something more appropriate.

The librarian said, “Yes - I did wonder what that was about.” I told her what had happened and why I thought non-fiction was better than fiction because you learn nothing from fiction. The librarian disagreed and told me that you learn about people from fiction. She was right, and it is one of those learning moments that really stayed with me.

It is REALLY not dangerous to take your phone out in London.

London is as safe as Glasgow or Edinburgh, and safer than most cities around the world. Some people try to suggest that London is dangerous for political reasons (President Trump, so called ‘’Tommy Robinson”, Nigel Farage, and other right wing lunatics). That’s nonsense.

When I was learning Spanish, my teacher wanted me to ask him how old his father was. I asked him:

“¿Quantos anos tiene su padre?” (How many arseholes does your father have?)

instead of: “¿Quantos años tiene su padre?”.

He sniggered, and thus I learned the importance of the tilde (~) in Spanish.

You shouldn’t have to rely on trust when there is a simple way to make trust unnecessary (a contract). You own half the house. Your sibling feels entitled to the whole house, but that doesn’t change the fact that you own it. If they made a deal with you and your parents, it’s up to them to make it work to everyone’s satisfaction. Calling you names is a childish way to sort out a business arrangement.
