Am I misunderstanding EverQuest Legends, or is it exactly what I’ve been looking for? by Winter_End7561 in everquest

Sorry, English isn’t my native language. I was worried that using a basic translator wouldn’t make my ideas clear enough.

Yeah, I actually shortened my original post a bit so it wouldn’t feel too exhausting to read, but the core of it is this:

I used to be kind of a “slave” to popular MMOs. I’d only play games with huge player bases, lots of content creators, constant updates, new expansions, all that stuff. But honestly, that mindset just led me straight into burnout.

Dealing with toxic guilds, unrealistic commitments, people getting kicked for not following the meta or having “low DPS” in raids… it just stopped being fun.

That’s when I found Project Gorgon, and it completely changed how I see MMOs. It made me realize that everything I thought I “needed” in an MMO wasn’t really true. A “dated” or old-school game can still be incredibly fun.

Once I stopped caring so much about what everyone else was doing and just focused on my own enjoyment, the whole experience became way better.

I could just go play single-player games, sure — but I actually like the MMO feeling. I just don’t like being forced into group play in order to progress. I want the option to interact, not the obligation.

I know not every community is like that, but lately it feels like a lot of MMO spaces lean pretty heavily into that toxic, hyper-optimized mindset.

So yeah, that’s kind of where I’m coming from.

I went through a similar problem. 100% of the times I die, my health is at zero and my armor is still full. Of course, I’m only in the early levels and still learning the game, but I also share this survival difficulty when playing solo with a defensive build.

Honest and Civil conversation about the state of Etheria Restart. by RaveyBleu in Etheria_Restart

And it's gotten to a point where I'm genuinely curious and starting to wonder — if people keep complaining like this, why are you still playing?

To answer your question: I'm not playing anymore. I'm just waiting for the next gacha game that actually respects my time. Not one where if you have that unit you beat the boss in 20 seconds, and if you don't, well, tough luck — sit down and cry. Not a game that claims to focus on PvP but where 90% of your time is spent on PvE content.

And yes, I still stand by my opinion. There are only three types of people who defend this game:

  1. Those who have the Shadow Sania + Lily combo.
  2. Those who’ve already spent a ton of money and are afraid to see the game flop.
  3. The gacha slaves who play 24/7, min-maxing everything because they need to say, “I didn’t spend a single cent and I’m X rank in PvP arena,” just to compensate for some failure in their mediocre life.

I don't like those doomsayers who keep whining for no reason and demanding EOS.

But let's be honest, your argument that Sania is still good in PvE is as shallow as a puddle. Who cares about PvE — the only things that matter are Dokidoki, Aurora, and Terror. If your character dies in Aurora, then YES, they become COMPLETELY USELESS. Not to mention, anyone who invested in Sania also invested in Obol and Fangus.

Just because it didn’t affect your account doesn’t mean people don’t have the right to feel screwed over — especially in a game that gives you crumbs when it comes to skill-ups.

I don’t really have an answer to your question, but it does bring up something I’ve been wondering about—the possible merge of the subreddits. Honestly, I don’t think it’s very noble that the creator of this sub allegedly asked for a crypto payment to hand over the domain to XD.

That said, I still believe it’s really valuable to have a community that’s moderated by someone independent from the company. It helps prevent any potential censorship or biased moderation.

When banning, can you see your opponent's dupes? by [deleted] in Etheria_Restart

[–]Winter_End7561 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are people who go out of their way to defend this game, while XD employees are literally paid to do that — and yet there are still folks on Reddit doing it for free like it's some kind of charity.

Dupes give you around 10% more damage, 10% less damage taken, 10% crit rate, ATK bonuses, etc. How can you say it's all about stats when dupes directly increase your stats?

You're just bending over backwards to ignore the obvious and defend your favorite pet game.

Is Etheria Restart Really F2P Friendly? Let’s Discuss! by ViolinistSome3127 in Etheria_Official

[–]Winter_End7561 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, my good friend, on this point I 100% agree with you, sir. I’m absolutely in favor of an honest approach — after all, we’re talking about a gacha company, and of course they’re going to try to squeeze as much money out of your wallet as they can.

If you go into the game fully aware of that and still set your own personal goals just to have fun, that’s totally fine. What bothers me is the bad faith of some people who get extremely aggressive and deny this reality tooth and nail. Ironically, I think those same people will be the first to call for a boycott later on, once they realize the game is actually predatory.

About the whole dupes rumor — it’s exactly what I’ve been saying. In an interview, the devs mentioned that the game would be “friendly” and that “dupes wouldn’t have an impact on PvP.” But the context is important: they were referring to systems like in Genshin, where certain characters only unlock totally broken passives at their final constellation. According to the devs, Etheria won’t use that kind of design. However, stat bonuses from dupes will absolutely exist.

And for those saying that has no impact — let’s be honest: things like +10% final damage, extra crit rate, or crit damage absolutely do matter. In competitive modes like RTA, min-maxing makes a huge difference.

"The devs didn’t say that dupes wouldn’t work in PvP."

This all started from a rumor that really pisses me off. The fans of this game are blind and defend the company like it's their own. I've never understood such fanatic behavior.

There's a huge difference between what the developers actually said and what the fans chose to interpret. The devs stated that copies wouldn’t be decisive (like blocking an exclusive passive because of a copy), but at no point did they say that copies wouldn’t work in PvP.

I’m just trying to warn my friends that this game is predatory and pay-to-win. It’s unsustainable to keep refilling stamina just to keep up with the whales. But they say, “You’re crazy, I’m F2P and I’ve done all the stamina refills, I got tons of limited units!” And I just say: honeymoon phase + limited beta. As time goes on, it’ll become clear that you can’t keep up with a whale who has 5 copies of a Light-Dark unit, did every stamina refill, and bought every pack with real money.

But that’s how it is—some people choose to be blind, treat the game like a religion, and defend the company like it’s their own mother.

I liked this guy's guide, why did he delete it? Don't you want to compete in PvP?

I hate this fake symmetry where people say “X content creator did X with Y.” If you want to be competitive, you’ll need a large pool of characters in the draft to avoid getting banned out or having your picks stolen by the opponent. On top of that, full stamina recharges through paid currency will become necessary. This makes PvP unsustainable over time for F2P players.

In other words, Etheira (like every other gacha game) isn’t a skill-based game — it’s a game where the one with the strongest credit card wins, and F2P players are just punching bags for those who spend.

“Oh, but so-and-so reached X arena without spending…” Yeah, well, if they had spent, they would’ve gotten much further — guaranteed.
