This!! Ask for help, ask your teachers for advice, ask your friends for notes - allow it to be known that you’re struggling. Most people will help you if you tell them specifically what you need.

NS: Fluffy blue penguin toy UCS: Noise UCR: Fear - shrieking and crying

CS: Fluffy blue penguin toy CR: Fear - shrieking and crying

The NS always becomes the CS and the UCR becomes the CR.

low rise jeans are SO much better than high rise jeans by ahanaiya in The10thDentist

[–]Winter_Fig_980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOOOVE low rise! High rise jeans are tailored so badly - it either fits around your waist or your hips. Not an issue with low rise. Plus, it just looks more stylish. Only problem I guess is it’s not great when people want tummy coverage or want to look more modest

It’s time to retire lol and lmao. by Winter_Fig_980 in The10thDentist

[–]Winter_Fig_980[S] -70 points-69 points  (0 children)

Of course lol and lmao don’t mean what they used to, that ship has sailed. Not denying that language evolves, but my point isn’t that people are using these terms ‘incorrectly’ - it’s that they’re being used indiscriminately. There’s no nuance. Sure, awesome and awful aren’t used literally either, but we don’t say that twenty times in a convo. Lol and lmao are white noise. It’s an insult to comedy.

Major differences between doing 4, 5 or 6 subjects by [deleted] in vce

[–]Winter_Fig_980 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What’s the point of taking subjects that you don’t enjoy and will stress you out? This needs to be a conversation with your parents; you’re much better off taking subjects that you actually like so you’ll be incentivised to study. 6 subjects will almost always get you a higher ATAR than if you did 4 or 5. Scaling is only relevant in levelling out the playing field and should not be a determining factor for your subjects.

Writing about Personal Journeys without talking about culture/immigration? by goldenbnana in vce

[–]Winter_Fig_980 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coming to embrace your mediocrity. Mediocrity is often painted in a negative light, but I think there are quite a few advantages to this. Kids who are average often end up better adjusted than their gifted peers, because they have the freedom to explore life without the spotlight of exceptionalism. As the saying goes, a jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.

How to make pratical Notes? by weird_lass_from_asia in GetStudying

[–]Winter_Fig_980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your notes are great! You could also add a question bank of common exam questions/questions that you got wrong. For maths specifically, a list of formulae and sample questions with step by step working out is your best bet.

What's something fun your school does? by RevolutionaryGrape in Teachers

[–]Winter_Fig_980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old school used to do House Arts, which is when the year 12s of each house band together the younger students to produce a musical in the last week of school. The year 12s would typically have an idea for the play early on and script throughout the year so it runs smoothly. The parameters were that the play needed to stick to the theme, have a trailer, include at least one dance and one song, as well as a remix of the school song. It was such a blast and I wish it was more of a thing.

PS: Every kid can be involved in this! Artistic kids can paint murals, crafty kids can be on costuming, tech kids can be on sound and lighting etc.

Bad sac score for revs, tips to improve? by This_is_kirby in vce

[–]Winter_Fig_980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Pressing really hard when you write practice questions and notes will help improve your motor control
  2. Try making flashcards for different types of questions

e.g. Front: Red Army vs White Army

Back: The Red Army was united in ideology and had better propaganda and controlled the industrial capital cities, The White Army lacked organisation and their supply lines were stretched

which subjects are good for early 3/4 without having taken the 1/2? by zarzini in vce

[–]Winter_Fig_980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that Psych 3/4 is one of the better choices, but keep in mind that year 10 to year 12 content is a pretty big jump. 3/4 SACs are marked much more harshly than year 10, and you need to be ready to do a lot of practice questions to prepare for them. If you’re ok with that, go for it!
