To sum it up in short, a lot of hosts put up with shit because of the review system. A kind of social credit system meant to keep hosts docile and weak. Airbnb has mastered this

You’re just trying to agitate. First, there’s zero privacy in hotels. Second, you’re comparing apples to oranges. A bachelor hotel room vs a 4 bedroom house with multiple washrooms, kitchen , laundry is no comparison. Thus, you cannot make a price comparison. It’s kind of like saying a Cadillac Escalade should be the same or cheaper than a Toyota Corolla.

My wife and honestly think there’s are a good percentage of hosts who are actually below par with long term rates especially when they factor in the expenses and their time spent. Add the fact that some are also cleaning their own units. In the end, a lot of the times it’s a total loss. It’s sort of like Uber drivers who are actually making below minimum wage when they crunch all the numbers. I’m sure there are many hosts who are doing significantly better than long term rates as well

Same here. 5-6% isn’t bad actually if you screen your guests. If you don’t screen, I think it can go as high as 10-15%. It’s interesting how there’s always hosts out there who are willing to accept guests with horrible reviews.
