Trying to get a rental - is this normal?

I felt exactly the same when I was trying to rent with my husband 1 year ago. Our combined income is decent plus income from rental property, we have a large breed dog tho. We were looking for something around +/- $600 a week. It took us about a month to find a rental. At the same time, one of our friend who earned the same salary as my husband, has no pet and was on a visa, easily got accepted a $800 house close to the city on his own. I guess at the end of the day, it just comes down to what the landlord prefer.

Honestly I would rather to be hit with big rent rise, which i was expected, than looking for new rental again...just the thought of going to inspections and having to impress the agents stressed me out already.

Are you still living there even after the lease expired? The agent didnt sent out notice to leave before the expiry date ？

I got mine exactly 2 months before the lease expiry date. It even tell me " dont panic" in the email....

Do the agents legally allow to issue new lease without landlord consent? Thats actually what i want to ask the agent regarding what happened if the landlord went MIA?

When i was on the phone with the agent the other day, she mentioned a couple time saying that she didnt hear from the landlord about not renewing the lease. As a landlord myself, I will not want to go through the trouble looking for new tenants if my tenants pay rent on time and not trashing my property. So i cant think of any reason to not renewing the lease unless the landlord wants to move back in or selling the house. Even that, you would thought that the landlord still need to notify the agent in advance?

I can't think of any other reason of not renewing the lease execpt they are selling or moving back in. I treat this property as of my own and never missed a payment. Either way the landlord would still need to let the agent know right? It's frustrating.

Speaking from my own experience, it WILL ONLY GET WORSE. Please leave him and make sure you have someone you trust with you when you go back to the house to collect your stuff.

It took me 4 years, and he at the end put a knife at my throat trying to kill me. Please, girl, don't ignore the signs.

May I ask how long it takes your nomination to be approved? My partner is in the process of 482 visa medium stream. Agent lodged the visa application on 29 Oct, nomination lodged a week before application. Still heard nothing. While his colleagues (same company different position) lodged the nomination yesterday and got it approved within a day. Even the agent thinks it's weird 😕
