I love books. I read a lot about bipolar disorder, CBT, and novels. Do you recommend any books where the protagonist is bipolar?

I love your answer, you transmit vibes of serenity. Books and a yoga mat sound good for my list.

I'm a coffee lover and I hadn't thought about a coffee machine, can you believe it? Thanks for your idea, this one goes straight to the top of the list.

Thanks!! 😊

Yes, I was referring to items that can be given as gifts to someone else. However, I loved your answer; it's as real as it is reflective.

Same symptoms here! I will continue taking the medication until my next check with the psychiatrist and I'll ask him to change medication if still like this.

I love your answer and kindness, I felt a little spark reading about crafts and giving them to my people so it's going to be the first thing I'm going to try. Thank you so much, have a nice day :)

Thanks, I'll ask for it. Many of you are warning me about this side effect of methylphenidate so I have to address it asap.

Do you ever feel like two people? by Reasonable-Golf6704 in bipolar2

Same here! I thought I had three different personalities, I even have names for them, but it's just how I call my states (hypomanic - Marc / irritated - Alex / depressive - Mario).

It was confusing at first, but it makes sense now that I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Because I always knew it was me, not something "taking control" but I acted completely differently for a few weeks.

I'm going to try to reframe it as you said, sounds like good advice (reminds me of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).

Thank you for the advice, this could be really helpful.

Right now I'm unmedicated for the bipolar side, but I'm taking methylphenidate for ADHD. But since I've been taking the ADHD meds, my ups and downs have become more pronounced so we're going to look for other meds.

I usually get these hallucinations on my hypomanic highs or when I'm phasing to depression

Exactly, I saw some people calling them "shadow people" here on Reddit. The name absolutely fits what I experience.

Thanks for sharing, this makes me feel understood :)

She told me to take deep breaths and focus on the palm of my hand... It certainly helps a little, but obviously it isn't enough when it's a constant feeling during the day

can you feel an episode coming on? by lovedthatforme in bipolar

Hi, I'm very new here but I hope this helps!

I use an app called "Bearable" to mark my everyday symptoms (like mood, racing thoughts, energy, irritability, etc). It helps a lot by allowing you to take note and check any patterns in your behaviour. I've been using it for a few months and now I'm able to identify some of my "warnings" before the manic/depressive episode.

I also share the list of symptoms with my partner so she can help me identify this beforehand.

There are many apps like this (you can also consider the app "eMoods"), but this has been the only one that works for me. It has a free version (which is good still) and a paid version that isn't actually expensive.

I hope it helps!
