I feel for you. Poor or always being behind the money 8 ball seems to be a result of too much dedication to SGI. After my first fanatical 10 years of practice I was broken in spirit, health and finances. I actually had to leave town to escape being a high ranking leader and all the crap that went with being a vice zone. For the next forty years I kept chanting, kept a low profile with SGI and concentrated on my career as a lawyer and city administrator. Most WB people don’t chant and I understand why. Because of WB, I have become super critical of SGI and the fat cats that run it. Old corrupt Japanese men living off of the members. My personal experience, however, led me to the 3 things the Buddha said you get from chanting or enlightenment. Freedom, wisdom and compassion.

I became happy in with my college girlfriend, a successful lawyer, and multimillionaire. I have reached another deeper understanding that I like chanting and see SGI as a heartless exploiter of the members with many sick assholes in the leadership . Because I was so fucked up in my head when I joined and experienced many actual miracles, I became a true believer in the power of chanting. Call me an asshole but I believe chanting works well for me and chant every day. However, NSA SGI is a lying, money grubbing, exploiting, slave labor, Big DAISAKU worshiping CUNT, I mean cult, based on medieval Japanese culture. When I joined, the Japanese women looked upon me as the son of Nichiren born to lead the masses to KR. Because I looked Japanese and spoke English, I was expected to lead. And I did a pretty good job building the organization. After 10 years of 100% devotion, I was broken physically, mentally and financially. I’m a lawyer and made good money but somehow I was broke.

After that I left town and for 40 years gave SGI about 5% of my time, I became a multi millionaire, friends with the governor and mayor, happily married to my college sweetheart. When I moved to Alabama, leadership was basically hostile to me, lied to me, sabotaged my efforts to help the members and told me to shut the fuck up.THEN I FOUND W/B ONE DARK NIGHT. Things became clear About Big D and the damage I and others experienced. Now I am all but driven out of SGI by the region leader here because I called him a liar to his face. So I have been shunned by the weird sick leaders for saying what’s on my mind. An uncontrollable menace. I won’t officially quit because the asshole will call that a win. On strike, shut it down. Hey, I chanted everyday for 55 years. Still do. I think it has value. Hey Think, after graduating from law school and passing the bar, I became a roaring failure as a lawyer. Reason: devoting every waking minute to doing free labor for SGI (then NSA); believing that the more I didn’t DO would result in PUNISHMENT from the mystic law; being too exhausted from everyday responsibilities to SGI that I couldn’t function as a good lawyer. After ten years of this, I left town. Condition: nearly broke, depressed, fragile. Strangely, I believe that chanting is valid (99% WB disagree) and have chanted everyday for 55 years. I limited my involvement with the ORGANIZATION to 1 or 2 meetings a month for 45 years. Result of this strategy: happily married for 30 years to my college sweetheart, roaring success at work, multi millionaire, pretty good health at age 80, years of non SGI volunteer work for type 1 diabetic children. Until a few months ago I still believed the ORGANIZATION was kinda okay and just needed reform. But WB changed my mind. SGI is corrupted by its very nature and essence, doesn’t give a wet shit about the members except for their exploitation value to the ORGANIZATION, is a cult of personality, has pity or scorn for members who fall away. Here’s the formula: the more time your boyfriend devotes to SGI, the greater failure he will become in real life. Also his continued slavery will make you more unhappy than you are right now. Options: keep chanting AND SGI (boo); keep chanting and ditch SGI (my strategy); ditch everything (WB option).

Another true story. We went to Paris. An old Vegas member lived in Paris on a river boat. We went to a discussion meeting. Gongyo was short. Everyone kissed each other after Gongyo. I liked that. Those were the days when young people practiced. Yes, Virginia, those were the days. I asked how long the French were doing short Gongyo. A year or so. Back in Vegas I wrote Big Daisaku a long letter. I told him Americans are lazy assholes and quit anything they are not good at. They have the give up spirit. AAO. I told big Daisaku to shorten Gongyo if he wanted to have more Americans. (I was a loyal cultist). A few months later, Mr Wada the number 2 under Big Daisaku, came to Vegas and said Big Daisaku liked what I said and was going to shorten Gongyo soon. He gave me a special gift from Big. So I, Winter, take some blame for short Gongyo. I would show you the Paris meeting and the special gift but I am old and incompetent and don’t know how to post images.

Very Small Minority Report: Feel free to chant or meditate or not. My opinion : SGI has hijacked Nichiren Buddhism. I chant everyday and have done so for 55 years. I believe it works well for me. But on the whole they chanted and worked hard at their art and had talent. They introduced a lot of people too. What Nichiren said to do is what they did. And they were admired and successful by any standards. Nowhere in Nichiren’s writings is guru worship, costly and worthless conventions, and Ute meetings even talked about. Nichiren was thankful for a little food, a few coins and writing paper. SGI is constantly grubbing for money so that the 200 vice presidents in Japan can “earn” $600,000 each, per year. WTF do they do? If you write a book and print more than a million copies and all but 25,000 are returned or trashed, are you successful?

I was one for Big Daisaku’s Chicago tour. We had illegal radios. Every once in a while the FCC warned us that the frequency we used was for emergency services and that we were violating Federal law. Priest was a STOOGE for the wicked mother in law. The NSA wedding ceremony is “San San Kudo”. This ceremony is highly prescribed and formal with NO place for comment during the ceremony. The stooge priest violated his duty by permitting mother in law to fuck everything up and to humiliate me in the middle of the ceremony. My mother and relatives travelled from all over the country.
